This episode starts as a sports podcast and quickly devolves into a philosophical debate about pizza grease ratios, whether brown is a wearable lifestyle, and if Joe Burrow is being groomed by Jessica Alba (jury still out). Slayer makes her long-awaited in-person debut and immediately destabilizes the bracket economy by picking Texas like a chaos agent. Meanwhile, Stat Boy questions reality (Lehigh engineers?), Dr. TAT commits light medical fraud on live radio, and the Eagles’ tight end room becomes a support group for guys named G-Calc and Stoned Smartt. If you came for March Madness analysis, you’ll stay for Mormon temple lore, bunny digestive systems, and the most aggressive mascot-based gambling strategy ever devised.

Welcome everyone to the eighteenth episode, eighteenth inaugural episode of the Seth Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Tat, and with me is Panda Dan, Statboy. Slayer. Oh wow. We have a new in-person guest. Welcome, Slayer of Slayer sound off fame.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Thanks for having me. Finally I made it. I did take off for this, by the way.
SPEAKER_01Lovely. She had to take off for this, Dan. Did you take off from work today? Dan, do you work anymore or are you, you know, just you know, freely uh just kind of traveling the world? I'm just a podcaster now. Yeah. You're a professional podcaster? I work weekday nights. One weekday night per week. And you get paid, what, a thousand dollars per listener? Yeah, like yeah, yeah. It's pretty good. Solid lifestyle. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we're in the presence of greatness. I'm so excited that Slayer is here. This is this is awesome. Well, Slayer is the new kid on the block, right? I we've only known her for about three decades. So it's it's just been something where it's just been brewing. And really, Slayer sound off was just built off of just the media conglomerate. She's she's also a member of the major media conglomerates of uh of the United States. Yeah, yeah. The Slayer Sound Off's been a hit. We get texts about it, we get messages about it, and it's it's one of my it's one of my favorite features of the Seth podcast.
SPEAKER_00I love it. It was a surprise to me when I heard it. I was like, oh, so they are reading my emails and my text messages and just my four links in one email that's a text.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, usually when we get the uh the fan mail, we we don't even look at it until we start the pod. So we do get it, it's it's literally on the site.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the great thing is Slayer, she emails us, she text messages us, and she also sends us text posts to us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So it's like you gotta be ready from all ends. I'm firing on all cylinders.
SPEAKER_00I would call it times of the day.
“We Finally Got Slayer (After 30 Years)” and Pizza Odyssey Deep Dive: Grease, Loyalty, and Steady Eddie
SPEAKER_01A quadruple threat. And that's really what we strive for here at Set Egg Podcast, right? Yeah. You know, we're really trying to break the borders not only in the Mennonite community, including Lane Johnson, but also, you know, more of the modern stuff, right? We wanna we wanna get into we've we've mastered telecommunication, right? We've made the jump. We now know how to make phone calls. Yeah, and I mean it I no one else knows how to do that. It was like Alexander Graham Bell and Sed Ec Podcast. I mean, that's it. And so I think of ourselves as really bridging the two, right? Traditional and modern.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01The past, the present.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And you know, I mean, pizza odyssey's out of business, but we're still rest in peace. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Ed McKeever was a huge pizza odyssey guy.
SPEAKER_01Oh, like growing up too, Slay.
SPEAKER_00He would Steady Eddie, he would go and get it just for himself, a personal pie. I'm not kidding.
SPEAKER_01That is such a great it was great. I I my family is a big fan. Did he have like a special order?
SPEAKER_00And I felt bad asking for his own. Did he have a go-to? Just a regular, like a plane. Cut as a plane.
SPEAKER_01So wait, so so so Steady Eddie shout out would like come home and he would have a pie, and he's just he doesn't say anything to anyone, he just starts eating it, and then everyone's just everyone else has dad has a pizza pie.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01What do you guys eat in a night? Was it always just like a you know, just straight down the middle cheese pizza?
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01What size? Like a 12-inch or what do we have?
SPEAKER_00Personal pie. Wow. For one person.
SPEAKER_01Wow. I respect it. And and and what time frame are we? Is this like mid-90s? Is this last week or oh no, mid-90s for sure. Mid-90s, yes.
SPEAKER_00Early 2000s, I think.
SPEAKER_01See, I strive for this thing.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you know what? It was probably it was when we lived on I'm not going to say the street. Right. No, you can't. So we don't, yeah, of course. Where I grew up, near the pool.
SPEAKER_02Right. The pool. The pool. You had a good backyard basketball court.
SPEAKER_00But he still drove there to get there and then come home. So when he got topping, because we were only a one-way street. I hope I didn't continue. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01All right. So there's no there's more than one one-way street down. Yeah, for stalkers out there. I'm Googling. It's a one-way street and don't worry, county. I will find you. I will find you. Yeah. Pizza Odyssey always had like I I will say the grease to cheese ratio was high and high. And so, you know, it I've never had their pizza, to be honest. I looked at it. You gotta get it well putting out. No wonder it's gonna sound crazy. Yeah, like I've I've had like probably thousand cheesesteaks from Pizza Odyssey, but but my dad and I respect what Ed said, but my dad said their pizza's not no good. So like we just never got like I never had it. So I thought like, but we were loyal to their cheesesteaks and their like their hoagies and stuff. Well, you know, it's a great point because when you think about a cheesesteak, you want that the Greece is like Greece is the it's the grease of a cheesesteak. You know what I mean? Yeah, am I am I making sense here? Were they like they were Greek? Were they Greek? Yes, they were Greek. They were Greek. That's why they were.
SPEAKER_05It was like a Greek style.
SPEAKER_01Odyssey, right? We were talking about Matt Damon, Odyssey, Christopher Nolan. It all adds up. So they had Greek, greasy pizza. Yeah. Yeah. And you got the pizza well done. I'm telling you. Listen, Jim. Dan, you're really hurting our potential for the Greek audience here if we start throwing too many stereotypes out. I used to eat there all the time, yeah. I mean, it was our go-to. I used to live on a street in Delaware County as well. Yeah. And I was probably a thousand paces, you know, from my house to Pizza Odyssey, give or take. And that's the first You were closer, Slay. And again, we have to be very careful not to dox. But, you know, again, I actually could walk from my house. Wow. On the way, I would be by Slay's house, which is kind of cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I was on the same damn street as Pizza Odyssey.
SPEAKER_00You were on the other side of the But I won't disclose where I live.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think you already said it was Warrior Road, but there it is, folks. We're done. But it's but that's a shut it down. He no longer lives there, folks. It's okay. So yeah, I I think that we like I said, we're bringing the old and the new. We've got new beginnings. The tournament has started. How are you feeling about that? I'm talking about March Madness. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So there's I mean, there were some Eagles news since last week when we recorded, so we can talk about that. Who?
SPEAKER_01Philadelphia Eagles?
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. NFL. So we can talk about that. But bam, we're in the midst of March Madness. It kicked off today. And it was a good day. Congrats to the High Point.
March Madness Begins + The “Colleges Named After Colors” Quizzo Spiral
SPEAKER_01What was what's their mascot? I don't know. High Point? Yeah, we'll have to look that upstable. Do you guys know off the dome? I know it's in North Carolina. I don't know. But yeah, they beat the Badgers of Wisconsin 12, classic 12-5 upset, right? There's always one. Other than that, it's gone pretty much as planned. Duke had a scare from Sienna. Sure did. Do you know the coach for Siena that was coaching and you know, in his eminent wisdom, played all five starters for all 40 minutes of the game? No, I know that the I I heard that the pen coach coached at Sienna at one point. Yeah, that's a fun fact. Jerry, Jerry McNamare, my one of the former roots. Nice. Much, much like much like Tay Diggs went to Syracuse and was just so committed to his craft that you know everything else be damned. You know, he didn't need he only needed five guys. That's all he all he played. Gary McNamara. Yeah, he was good. He was a point guard.
SPEAKER_02He was like a he was. He was a exciting player. Yeah. Sienna is one of four schools to be four colleges to be named after a color.
SPEAKER_01Someone told me that already. Yeah. What did the other ones? Honestly, I didn't really know that idea. Clemson?
SPEAKER_00Yep. Navy.
SPEAKER_01Navy. Oh, true. Navy's a good one. I don't think Clemson's a color. Clemson? Clemson's an orange.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's a color? Oh, okay. I think well, navy and brown you got right up. That's impressive. So it's navy, brown, Stanford. I didn't even like Sienna's a color. Stanford. The Stanford.
SPEAKER_00Right?
SPEAKER_01Or is it Sienna? It's like I think it's like Sienna's a color. Sienna's a color. Yeah. Is it like a yellow? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, birds and it's now I'm thinking oranges now. I'm starting. Either way, it's I'm getting a Southwestern. But that's not the Jit, like the name, like so Syracuse isn't or Stanford. Like they're good guesses. Like they're you could say the the name, like the mascot is the fuck. But that's not that's really there's only four. It's Navy, Brown, Siena, and then there's one more that's kind of difficult. Hmm. And they're a Division I basketball school? Yeah. I guess they're a bunch of things. And it's the name of the actual college, right? It's not Yeah, but it's kind of like even I was like, wait, that's a color. Like it's kind of do you know Stapoy? No, I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_00This is a good quiz out question.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is a good quizzo question. Want me to say one of their alumni that we've got. Yeah, sure. Do a little reverse.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, give us a clue. Tank gonna do what tank is gonna do. Where did he go?
SPEAKER_01Tank Big B. Is the school in Florida? No. Tank. Tank. Cam. What is it? Cam Newton. Cam Newton wasn't Cam Newton. Oh, he went to Auburn. Yeah, dirt. Auburn's a color, is what you tell me. It's like a reddish color. It's Auburn. Yeah, yeah. It's Auburn. Okay, so Auburn, Navy, Brown. Oh, I didn't get Clemson.
SPEAKER_00Clemson was wrong.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_05I meant to be a big one. But it was Auron.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And honestly, so Auburn, Auburn's in Alabama, and actually Clemson's in South Carolina. It's kind of, you know, general vicinity, right? Yeah.
unknownYeah.
Fashion Analysis: Brown Is Back (Apparently) + March Madness Betting Strategy (Actual Insight Appears)
SPEAKER_01I mean, brown and navy are like the easy ones. And then Auburn and Sienna are kind of more difficult. What's the best color out of those four? Probably navy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What's the one you've worn the most? I think we've all worn navy the most out of those colors, right?
SPEAKER_02I mean, you and I are wearing navy right now.
SPEAKER_01What of those four colors, which one? Like if I had to, if you for the rest of your life you had to wear one of those colors, which one are you going to wear? Well, not brown. Let's just say brown's brown.
SPEAKER_00No, I like brown.
SPEAKER_01Brown's like a very Would you commit to brown for the rest of your life?
SPEAKER_00Yes, it looks good on the blonde. Brown? There you go.
SPEAKER_01But you know what it's true?
SPEAKER_00It's actually a neutral color.
SPEAKER_01It is a neutral color.
SPEAKER_00And it's in for women right now. And it's it's year-round.
SPEAKER_01We can wear it year-round.
SPEAKER_00I actually wore a brown dress to sophomore or junior prom. I think it was junior. Nice. That's a like a spring promotion.
SPEAKER_01Like it was controversial back then?
SPEAKER_00Because it was brown.
SPEAKER_01But we just oh, okay. So in 2026, though, brown, like how many how many dresses? Let's let's call it the fall formal, right? We're not going crazy here. Nobody's wearing brown at the softhop, but you know, at spring fest. But as like the harvest moon dance. Yeah. You'd say what, 80% brown dresses, maybe?
SPEAKER_0080% what?
SPEAKER_01Brown dresses? Is brown in?
SPEAKER_00Uh no, I would say it's in in a more casual way. Like I have friends that wear like brown pants.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. Yep. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Instead of like a black jean or denim or like a denim.
SPEAKER_01The one nice part about brown, uh, in my opinion, is that there's a lot of shades of brown, and brown owns that owns multiple shades. Whereas Auburn, Auburn's like brightish red. You can't really wear that year-round. Yeah, that'd be like favor for light. I think navy's the answer for me, but that's I I find blue is a nice color. Yeah. Navy's like a safe color. Like you know, a lot of people.
SPEAKER_00It's a core, like it's a good suit color, too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Brown has stood the test of time, though.
SPEAKER_03I mean, according to the internet, we got Siena and Auburn both in the brown atmosphere, right? So you got Sienna is a yellow brown, and then they got like the classic Auburn is like a deep brown, warm red, thread. Okay. So brown, Auburn, Sienna, all the same fact.
SPEAKER_01You know, the truth is we're stepping on one of my planned podcasts this summer, which is the color wheel. But this is, you know, we're really catching a few things here. What's nice is I I would say Slay, you know, with with you know a natural blonde, the brown really does kick. Now, with a graying old man like myself, I think brown looks like a little bit. It would i and I'm already half washed out as it is. So, you know, that's interesting. Dan, I think you could throw anything on and it looks great. Yeah, well, you know, natural look. I mean, you've got a face for podcasting. We know that, that's for sure. Yeah. So yeah, I mean I wouldn't have to do that, Dan. I think I would go navy. I think I would go. Yeah, you'd go navy. Yeah. Like I'm wearing navy right now. You look good? I look pretty damn good. You've looked good in everything I've ever seen you wear. I mean, you're not you're not like McGurk handsome, but you're handsome. Yeah. I appreciate that. Well, you know, McGurk's uh the best looking guy in Delarco. I think we could we could put him in anything and he would look great. Yeah. Shout out. Yeah, yeah. Shout out to McGurk. So when it comes when it comes to March Madness, yeah, yeah, yeah. What's your do you have a certain way of making the picks? How do you feel about it? Do you do you get emotional? Is it a big deal? Is it not a big deal?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a pretty big deal. I did a combination of entering pools this year. I bet on the games as a gambling man. I joined a survivor pool. That was an interesting one where you pick. That's a unique one where you pick a winner each day, but you can't use the same team. That's the first time I'm doing that. Kind of cool.
SPEAKER_01I picked up. Oh, I see. Like during the round, you have to pick somebody. Yeah, yeah. So like I think it was 38 people in that pool, and four people picked Wisconsin today. So like they're gone. Because you can't pick the same team. Interesting. Okay.
SPEAKER_02But I did like a bunch of parlays and bets and yeah. The only one they got wrong was Wisconsin so far.
SPEAKER_01So you know, but a lot of people got the wrong. I didn't get it wrong. Yeah, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02I didn't have Wisconsin going past around the 32. So I don't know. Yeah, who cares? You know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think you're gonna be okay.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, I uh yeah, I I relied heavily on the Ken Pom statistic for my bets. What is that? Can you please describe that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, who's a what's a Ken Pom? Ken Palmer is the he I don't know who is that a dog or what I don't know if he wears navy or brown or what, but he he like does all these he he takes into account strength of schedule, offensive rating, defensive rating, margin of victory, all sorts of stuff. He doesn't take into account injuries, though. So then I was like what seems kind of important.
SPEAKER_03Was there a lot of players not playing that are important in this?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like that's I was like, all right, well, I'm gonna rely on Ken Pom, but then I'm also gonna look out who who's injured because I was important or who's out. Like we can say it now because like Alabama had a weird thing where the one player got busted with like felony drug charges, like on Tuesday.
SPEAKER_02So then that that I don't know if you guys picked Alabama, but like their second players out.
SPEAKER_01That sounds like a problem.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what was he doing? He had like uh over I mean, I kind of like I think he had like a bunch of marijuana, like over a pound. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Well a bunch of marijuana.
SPEAKER_02Like was the I don't know how much is a bunch? I just saw over a pound. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01And and in the state of Alabama that gets you in trouble, huh?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, all the way. Yeah, he he seemed like he's a good player. He actually I think he went to Auburn and Alabama.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, there you go. It all adds up. But but yes, Obama might, but they still gotta he's their second best player.
SPEAKER_02So but yeah, I got I'll just put it out there. I have Arizona, I think I said it during last week. I think Arizona winning. I got Arizona over Florida with Michigan State and Iowa State in the final four. So whatever it all says.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, I'm I'm not gonna disclose any of that because I I definitely am not a sucker like you and gonna make those bets. But what I would say, one, is that when we think about March Madness, what I think about is mascot matchups, rebound differential, possession, things that kind of naturally all go together. You listed mascot as number one? Mascot is by far number one. That's the most critical. That's the most critical.
SPEAKER_02I mean like kind of obscure things like mascot, rebound differential. Like that's not like the first thing.
SPEAKER_01Those are the two main things that matter, actually.
SPEAKER_03So they have an incredible rebound differential, but their mascot is a weak mascot. Yeah. That's a they're down. They're they're correct.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And I would say, you know, who's the everyone, everyone always talks about the billion, right? That's an that's a fun one. You know what a you know what the billican is. Yeah, yeah, that's St. Louis. But really, the reason why St. Louis is so interesting is not that they have this ephemeral kind of whimsical mascot that I think means like harkens back to better times, Statboy. You'll have to go through it with me. But basically, they always have a really good rebound differential, and that's all that matters because basketball is just rebounding. The scoring is inconsequential, it's the guy who can get the ball back. Yeah. Right. I think that's what everyone would like. Yeah, I love rebounding. I mean, credit to Statboy. He was always like a really good rebounder when we played recreational. Yeah, that's just the truth. I was also a really good mascot. You you've always been a good mascot. Yeah, so you're the mascot for the podcast. It's just a a rodent, a rodent kind of climbing on a microphone, I believe. That's what we're like. Yeah, yep. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Did uh Slayer, did you fill out a bracket this year for I filled out two this morning?
SPEAKER_00I can't get into the one that our group is in. I don't know how to get back to it.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I can I can't.
SPEAKER_00I have no idea who I picked.
SPEAKER_05Let's see.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, my other league, my other pool. But nobody else picked Texas to win hook'em horn, so I don't think I'm winning this one.
SPEAKER_01Here you go. And you know what's interesting is is you have North Carolina winning here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I have Texas Gallen Farm both. Oh, fun. I just like hook'em horn.
SPEAKER_01So you picked you you honestly picked the two best colors in the tournament if we're going back to our color discussion. The burnt orange of Texas and the baby blue of UNC, I mean, that would be just a joy to watch. It's almost like a Sienna. Yeah, I mean, Monet would rejoice at that final. You know what I mean? Look at that color. Texas is up nine at halftime right now. Texas is up nine at halftime right now. That's an upset. Good job. Wow. Against BYU Brigham Young.
SPEAKER_00Well, unfortunately, in the our one pool, I wanted to change the tiebreaker because I completely botched that. Oh. So I asked if I could change it, and the leader was like, I don't think that's gonna come into play because you have Texas. Oh, yeah, but wait and see. Famous last words. I was like too embarrassed to tell him what I guessed the score. I'm not telling you. Wait, so you've been in Texas.
SPEAKER_01What did you have the score? Like three to two?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01So you have Texas gonna the championship.
SPEAKER_00Hey, I have to.
SPEAKER_01She hasn't been the championship. Wow. I mean, listen, if Texas makes the final four, Slay, you're gonna win. Final four is two eleven's and two sixes.
SPEAKER_00I saw that, but I didn't even realize it until it was later. I was like, that's St.
SPEAKER_03Louis versus North Carolina, and then you have Texas versus Miami, Ohio. Miami, Ohio.
SPEAKER_00To be fair, I was like, toddler.
SPEAKER_02North Carolina's up 11 right now, too. So right now you're a team.
SPEAKER_00I was watching a toddler, so that's where my head was at.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we have the Penn Quakers tonight.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's tonight.
SPEAKER_02Now, when people listen to this, it might be a sad story. Could be.
SPEAKER_01But you know.
SPEAKER_02They play what?
SPEAKER_01Oh, oh, you're saying they're gonna I don't think they're gonna lose. I mean, I I have I have the full faith in it. TJ Power, he got them. No. Yeah, they're they're the best. Uh Power was hurt. Or he was sick. He has an illness. Who does it thrower or power for this game coming up?
SPEAKER_02We talked about TJ Power last week.
SPEAKER_01Power's sick.
SPEAKER_02He's sick. But did you watch on Sunday the Ivy League championship against Yale?
SPEAKER_01No, not at all.
SPEAKER_02He had 44 points.
SPEAKER_01That's a lot of points, Dan. Wow. How many total points you scored in the game?
SPEAKER_02He had the set hike bump. We talked about him on the podcast.
SPEAKER_01The set hike bump. Well, I think Texas is going to win it all if that if the set hike bump is like you better start betting on Texas. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01And then we have Villanova tomorrow for our big five fans out there.
SPEAKER_02I guess Lehigh is sort of a Philly. Lehigh affiliarism. They lost. Yeah, pull that off.
SPEAKER_01I wouldn't consider Lehigh affiliary. We said it was on the radio. I was gonna say that. That's a strange way. Like, if isn't their mascot the engineers? It might be what, Lehigh? No, they haven't done the engineering program. I don't think that's their mascot. Wait, I think it is. I don't know. No, it is Lehigh's mascot. I think Lehigh's mascot is some sort of bird. I think they're in the bird, the avian kind of realm. The stat boy you're gonna have to do. It looks like a hawk. Yep, there you go. It's a bird. A hawk. Although, you know what's funny is most of the a lot of the mascots in basketball are like wild. There's so many wildcats. There's a lot of wildcats, and there's all these birds, right? Like and then because you've got what? Arizona Wildcat. Now, the Duke Blue Devils, I heard on a separate podcast, that actually is a French term, which is Diablo de Blue, which is a group of military Frenchmen that used to live in the Alps, and they would be in the they would they were called the Blue Devils because they used to just protect the Alps from you know other neighboring countries. Really? I didn't know that. And the French always that now they were very pro-Navy, they hate the color red because that was the British. And you know, the French so Duke is based on a bunch of French dudes up in the mountains just sitting around to be like, Oh, no one's going to pass here. That's a Joey Lisbrank saying Liz. They're just smoking their like little cigar cigarettes and they're on the Alps and are like, Who has a light Englishman over there. And that's and Duke's like, yeah, we're gonna be we're gonna be basketball players. Yeah. I mean it adds up, doesn't it? Lehigh was the engineers until 1995, and then they became the Mountain Hawks just at Funcha. Were you pulling these facts? I just looked it up. He looked it up, sorry. Oh my god. I knew like I I thought maybe I was like deranged because I did you was that one of those setup things where you're just asking a question that you knew the answer to? It was me questioning my own sanity about why I thought they were the engineers. Okay, so you So they were so you feel okay about it. Now I'm back to swear roll. Everyone's okay. Yeah. Deep breath. I'm not code. Kind of weird. Yeah, I don't know why they changed.
SPEAKER_03What would a man what would an engineer look like? Like we talked Okay. I don't know. Like a mechanical?
SPEAKER_01You would have like a wrench on your training.
SPEAKER_03Well we're talking an engineer as in like a train conductor kind of guy.
SPEAKER_01Well, well, you know, produce the boiler maker, right? That's uh that's a type of train. That's pretty interesting. And their guy is like their guy's a physical kind of dude in a hat. I mean, kind of creepy, actually. Have you seen the boiler maker making? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00If it's not an animal.
SPEAKER_01Now, the one that our our favorite, and and I'm actually gonna go back in time here, once again, go to the past. One of my favorite tournaments of all time was when St. Joe's, the Hawks, were the number one seed. Do you remember that? Phil Martell. Jameer.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Jameer Nelson.
SPEAKER_02Slayer was a huge fan of that too.
SPEAKER_00Ed had tickets.
SPEAKER_01Ed had tickets. And I believe they made it to the Elite Eight that year, Slay. I'm gonna say. You're gonna have to look. I don't remember. I know who they lost. Excuse me. I mean, Dan's show. I don't mean to like I don't mean to flex here, but I mean What do you need to know? I I don't know, man. I I feel like I'm talking to Schwarzenegger about lifting weights right now. It's uh I don't know what to say.
SPEAKER_00Settle down, Dan.
St. Joe’s Nostalgia + Unhinged Pep Rally Story
SPEAKER_01They lost to the uh cowboys in Oklahoma State. Yeah. That was that was right in that was in the middle of high school, which was so much fun. Yeah and you know what? My life was so boring back then, that's all I cared about was that was that draw. And that was right around that was you know, what, three or three to eight years removed from the AI years, right? And one of the things that this is a deep dive, and this is a little bit, you know, inside baseball for for everybody, but Slayer back in the day was the Sixers fan of a certain school that we all attended except for Stat Boy. Even to the point that we did, I don't know if you remember this, we did the Pep Rally Pep Rally, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And and and someone else took credit for it.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna name names.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm not friends with her anymore, but name them.
SPEAKER_01No, we're we're gonna we're gonna this is uh doxing if we want to. No, we're not doxing anyone. Bill, Bill, my friend, well, all my friends Bill Billy D.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, I vividly remember watching him running around with his.
SPEAKER_01Didn't he have just like socks for the ears? And because I think he decided that day that he's gonna be a hit.
SPEAKER_00No, it wasn't clearly student-led.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And 13-year-olds I can't believe they just let us.
SPEAKER_01They were like, all right, whatever, just go and we literally just all went into the gym and just ran around. I think I gave it speech. Me and Bill gave it Bill gave it speech. You gave it to the whole school, and like we didn't know, like we it was pretty rain. Like we could have said whatever we wanted. Dan's like, someday I'll talk about this. You were next to Hip. Yeah, like Bill. And I think Bill just like ran into the audience and started like all the kids sitting there. Like they were nervous.
SPEAKER_00What's going on?
SPEAKER_01And I think it was most of the school when.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, how did it was a pep rally? I think you have to go.
SPEAKER_01I feel like you worked. There were hundreds of people there. Yeah, so this was this was the year this was the year of our Lord 2001, right? Spring of 2001, and nothing else was really going on at the time in the world. So we really just focused on basketball. Yeah, and I still don't understand why they let us do that.
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
SPEAKER_01But I thought it was awesome. And I think I haven't thought about it. I mean, that was crazy because they played the Lakers and yeah, like that was Kobe and Shaq. Yeah, yeah. And then they won game one, and I think the pepper house was right before game one, and I think I was flying high. I mean, that was probably the happiest I've ever been from a basketball fan standpoint. That was the greatest game ever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's step. But yeah. So I think you probably, Slay, are probably feeling pretty good because the Sixers are bringing back the same jerseys that they had back then. The black and gold.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And how do you you feel like full disclosure? I haven't watched this season.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they did bring it.
SPEAKER_00But I did know that.
SPEAKER_01We appreciate your honor. That's a fact. I did know that. Yeah. Yeah. But you you do you feel like the Sixers can get back to some well if they became more competitive, would you watch it? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I think everybody would. I think that's kind of how you know things go. I think everyone's like their one is either Phillies or the Eagles.
Fake Doctor Goes on Radio During a National Crisis
SPEAKER_01Totally agree. Yeah. I feel like that's the split. And then the Sixers are in this weird. But you growing up, were you just a big Sixers fan or were you an Alan Iverson fan? Was it more AI or more like the Sixers?
SPEAKER_00I would say AI first. I was on the A team, but I didn't play a lot. Huge flyers. I didn't play a lot. And uh every year there would be some sort of like huge party where the the basketball, the girls' basketball team would get to go to this party and like what we would have to wear our jerseys. And there was always a rumor that Alan Iverson was gonna be there. And I had the choice to like not be on the 18 because I never played, so I was like, I'm only gonna be on the 18 because we go to this party and I might meet Alan Iverson.
SPEAKER_01Were you going to the TGI Fridays on City? Where it was?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't know where it was. No, it was like in this huge hot where is this? I don't know. My mother would know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But we would always go, and that was the only reason why I stuck with it.
SPEAKER_01You you would consider AI a top four childhood like sports hero, right? I think. Yeah. He's my yeah, favorite situation. You would go AI, who would be your uh let's do one from each team. Yeah. I thought about this. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I I I would go I mean me, I could reevaluate it, but it might when I've thought about this like last year, I I did AI Chase Up the AI, Chase Up the Brian Dawkins, Eric Linjo.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think that's about right. That's pretty good. Yeah. So you would go Dawkins. Yeah, I think Dawkins represented that stretch. And I'm talking about when we were I uh how old are we right now, Dan? Like in our early 20s. And I think like back then we were, I don't know, four or five. Mid twenties. Yeah, yeah, mid-twenties. And so yeah, back in like oh four, oh four to oh eight, it was yeah, Dawkins. And my favorite was I always listened to 610 WIP shout out. I may or may not have actually been interviewed on 610 WIP before Andrew Cotaldi retired, but yeah, I digress. You were. I was telling that story to someone the the other day about that well.
SPEAKER_02I'll tell you it's kind of funny.
SPEAKER_01It's rather funny, and I'll I'll Do you want to tell it? I'll get to the anecdote in a second, Dan.
SPEAKER_02There is a funny twist to that.
SPEAKER_01There is a funny twist to that story. Boy, I feel like it's teed up now. I mean, I'm I'm kind of I painted myself into a corner, didn't I? But before I You did a great job though, I'll give you. Thank you, Dan. Yeah. Before I talk about that, I want to say that anybody, the my favorite part of 160 WAP was you knew when you were talking to like your classic person who would call into 610 WAP when they said Eric Lindross, they would go Lindros. Lindros. Yeah. They'd be like, yeah, first time, long time. And I think Eric Lindros' dad needs to get out of the way and let him just re- sign. And you know, that and that was all they would talk about. Lindros. And then it was uh it was Eric Lindros. And I'm like, dude, it's Lindros, man. Lindros. But yeah, so approximately God, five five to six years ago.
SPEAKER_02There's two key names in this story. Two athletes.
Joe Burrow, Jessica Alba, and Celebrity Chaos
SPEAKER_01Yes. Five to six years ago, I was asked as a fake doctor to provide fake doctor advice on Angelo Catholics. And I was a bit slow struck because I got an email from Rhea Hughes the night before, and she emailed me at like 8 p.m. And that's like right before she went to bed. Yeah. Because they always get up at like 4 a.m. And they were just telling me because Josh Sweat had injured his neck during the game. And I always sweaty Jay, as everybody does not call him, but but anyway, Sweaty J hurts his neck, right? And so I always like to parade as a fake spine surgeon. So I was able to give my recommendations about the neck injury. So it's 8 p.m. I get the email from Rhea Hughes. I'm like kind of starstruck at that alone. I, you know, printed that one out for the old the old book. Um so anyway, she said, yeah, we're gonna talk about Josh Wett. You got like five to seven minutes, yada yada yada. Yeah. And then that is the night of the Buffalo Bills playing against the Cincinnati Bengals. Oh, yeah, yeah. And it was a Monday night football game. So this was a Tuesday morning hit, and that's kind of when they did, you know, the fake doctor thing. And DeMar Hamlin gets struck in the chest and has cardiac arrest, dies on the field. Dead. And so that happened about 8 38 p.m. If I'm being, you know, approximate. And the game stops, and so I get a second email from Rhea Hughes at 10.13. Well, yeah, Damar Hamlin did come back to light, but just in case anyone's right. That's not an important part of the story. But no, no, no. Rhea Hughes email folks. Yeah. Rhea Hughes emails me at 10 13 p.m. and she's like, actually, we're gonna talk about Damar Hamlin since this ended the game and it became a national thing. He's like, How do you feel about talking about cardiac arrest? I'm like, Well, I'm an orthopedic spine surgeon, so I think this will work out quite well. And so, of course, I still say yes. And then the next day I get to talk about it. And so, you know, yeah, no, that was I actually remember Statboy and I talking afterwards, and Statboy was like, he's like, Why did you talk about a guy dying on a football field? And I I You don't know shit about that in my defense. I spent the entire time. The first thing I told Ange, first of all, first of all, I did like, well, I don't usually talk about cardiology. It was my first stop. I am not a cardiologist. And then I just started talking about the heart, you know? It's just you didn't get it. Yeah, it sounded like you knew fake it to anyway. But that's my that's been my whole career. I mean, look at this podcast. I mean, what are we doing right now? Yeah. But yeah, that was a great core memory. Thanks, Dan. Thanks for sharing.
SPEAKER_02I I literally told that story like within the past two weeks to who'd you tell it's a great person.
SPEAKER_01Someone special. I mean a beautiful person. Is it a beautiful person? Yeah, it's someone I it's probably someone I've met before. It was on the phone though, so I wasn't able to be like animated. Like, yeah, do you I I will be happy to tell her the story anytime, anywhere. Yeah, yeah. Any day. Wow. So yeah, let's she loves you. Let's circle. Oh my god. There I go. He's still my beating heart. I'm a married man. I'm actually about to have my third dance. So geez. It's not the right time to go into that. Let's let's touch base on the birds. What it you know, are birds, Dan. Yeah, what's happened since I've talked to you? A lot's happened. So Dallas Goddard's coming back for one-year deal, right? Nice. We like that. Do we like that, everyone? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I do.
SPEAKER_01I'm glad. I I get that you guys all gave the same he had you guys gave the same B plus tone. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It's all right. It's better than going out and spending a crazy amount of money on some unknown. I think the options that were out there are like Don't you guys think Dallas He showed up this year, I think. Yeah, he played well. I mean, he was a huge red zone producer for us this season. Do you think Jalen Hurts likes Dallas Goddard? Do we know? As like a person or is a player on the field? Both.
SPEAKER_00I think yeah. He trusts him, right? There's a trust.
SPEAKER_01Tight ends usually have that safety like factor. Do you think they hang out outside of the field?
SPEAKER_00You know, like I don't think Jalen Hurts hangs out with anybody. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02He's a lone wolf. He's a lone wolf. Well, he was just at a he was at an event, but it was probably like he had to be there. Like he was with Tom Brady. That was Tom Brady's Was it. It was with Like Football.
SPEAKER_00They were in where and he was with Joe Burrow.
SPEAKER_02Wait, where was this? It was a star-studded event.
SPEAKER_00No, it was somewhere beckon. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Saquon, James. Was this for the Olympics or what?
SPEAKER_00Literally the other day.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, yeah. Jaden Daniels was there. What was this for? It was literally.
SPEAKER_00It's his flag football event. He had Logan Paul there. Did you see interview with Logan Paul where he was such a future cabinet or something?
SPEAKER_01Do we like Logan Paul? Please.
SPEAKER_00And Tom Brady had to humble him where he was like what's his name? Logan Paul? Paul Logan. Well, two first names. Two first names. Never trust a man with two first names.
SPEAKER_01Never trust a man with two athlete.
SPEAKER_00He was trying to like say that he that like NFL players weren't like real athletes. He was pulling stats from when he was in high school. And Tom Brady was not having that. I and like he's my coworker, Tom Brady. So and I don't really like him that much. But I was like, how dare you talk to Tom Brady like that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I'm glad you stuck up for Tom Brady.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Slay Slay looks after her co-workers. Yeah.
unknownJay?
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, please. No, no. I'll say something.
SPEAKER_02Slay the Let Stat Boy talk.
SPEAKER_03Let's Stat Boy talk.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_03You were talking about Joe Burrow there, and you talked a little bit about Tom Brady. Is it I heard something about Joe Burrow having a little bit of a connection to maybe an old fine?
SPEAKER_00No, go for it. I need you to pull that up.
SPEAKER_01Oh. Pull it up.
SPEAKER_00So I have been off the grid since January, and there are two people that I need to keep tabs on. One is Harry Styles and the other one is Joe Burrow.
SPEAKER_01Which one do you like more?
SPEAKER_00That's rude.
SPEAKER_01You gotta pick.
SPEAKER_00No, I I'm you can't. My mom said I have to go. I can't.
SPEAKER_01Harry Styles or Joe Burrow.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_03So something along the lines of Joe Burrow's ex. Is this is this weird? Joe Burrow. Apparently him and his girlfriend have broken up.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Who? Jessica Alba?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I heard he was with Jessica's with Jessica Alba. I broke that news.
SPEAKER_00He was seen with her at a casino at 3 a.m. Early hours.
SPEAKER_01Early hours.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Don't you guys think Jessica Alba is grooming Joe Burrow right now? I mean, it's she's she's she's north of 40 and he's he's south of 30. I mean, are we comfortable with this guy? I mean, they're extremely fashionable. Jessica Alba looks great, by the way, right? She's she was the one in Dawson's Creek, right? That's something we melt. I'm just I'm just messing with you guys.
SPEAKER_00No, but I think Jessica Alba is dating somebody.
SPEAKER_01Joe Burrow is.
SPEAKER_00It's not Joe Burrow.
SPEAKER_01I think well the I mean, if if Jessica Alba's dating someone and it's not Joe Burrow.
SPEAKER_00I think his name is Danny something.
SPEAKER_01Well, Danny's gotta be Danny's gotta be sweating balls.
SPEAKER_03Danny Maria. Danny Miraz. Yeah, wait, who's who is this? I don't know. I don't know who he is, though. I don't oh he's uh he's known for top-dun maverick. He's in top gun maverick. Oh this is what this is what he looks like. What does he look like? Everyone on the pod, take a look. Hold on, look at Danny.
SPEAKER_01This is a nice audio. Why is she hanging with Joe at three in the morning at the casino? That's what I'm asking, Dan. I mean, if I'm Danny Danny Ramirez, I'm pretty I'm pretty nervous.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You've got the you don't want to wake up to that. Well, what about Harry Styles? What's who's he dating?
SPEAKER_00He is dating what's her name? Krav Zoe Kravitz.
SPEAKER_01Oh, nice. Lenny Kravitz's daughter. Yeah. Yeah. That's kind of cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01How do we feel about Lenny Kravitz? We feel good about it. I know this is great. I love this. I can't help myself.
SPEAKER_02It's so much fun. She's cool. What's that one song about Lenny Kravitz? There's a song I really like about. Oh, the watermelon song?
SPEAKER_01Low. Is that a song? Low. What? What are you talking about, Dan? I think there's a song.
SPEAKER_00What word are you saying?
SPEAKER_01Low.
SPEAKER_00Low?
SPEAKER_01I think there's a song by Lenny Kravitz called Low.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that watermelon sugar.
SPEAKER_01I thought you were thinking, yeah, yeah. Whitemelon sugar. Yeah. Yeah. So Zoe Kravitz, Harry Styles, Jessica Alba, Joe Burrow, Double Date, Who Says No? I mean, that sounds wonderful. Joe Burrow is very fashionable, by the way. So I is.
SPEAKER_00His mom was in merchandising.
SPEAKER_01Is that what it is?
SPEAKER_00Yes. And he I I know a lot about him. So he was like very into clothes when he was little.
SPEAKER_03Nice. And you can see it. Yeah. I know he's big into like the sunglasses, like the different glasses, right? Different colored glasses. Always see him wearing like a light blue glasses, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He's pretty I I think I would I you know LSU. Yeah, yeah. But they say don't meet your heroes, but he'd be one of those guys who I actually think if you did meet him, it would be pretty interesting. I do you think he gives you the time of day or is he like too?
SPEAKER_00No, no. I no I don't want anybody to see me when I'm starstruck.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wow, look how cool he looks. If you're so if you're in that casino and you see those two sitting at the table, how many people are saying, Oh, it's Jessica Alba with Joe Burrow, and how many people are saying, Oh, it's Joe Burrow with Jessica Alba?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What is it, 6040? Who's more famous?
SPEAKER_03I have Mary's just like memorized by all the photos I'm showing in Joe Burrow right now. She's she can't really answer this question.
SPEAKER_01It's like a it's like a moth to a flame. Yeah. Yeah. He looks great in Siena. You know, he he's a guy who could probably wear brown navy sienno, or boy, you just put him in anything.
SPEAKER_00Pink, he's got that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's wearing pink here. Yeah. With a shaved but wait, Jessica Alba, just to be clear, and I know I was joking about Dawson's Creek, Rest in Peace. But I, you know, I think Alba was in the fan one of one of the crappy versions of Fantastic Four, but what is she known for? I'm trying to think. I confuse her, Katie Holmes, and what's her name? Zoe Kravitz. Zoe Kravitz, yeah. I I always confuse those folks.
SPEAKER_00She was in She was in Sin City.
SPEAKER_01She is very young. Oh, Sin City. I remember Sin City, yeah. That was crazy. She was pretty young during that.
SPEAKER_00She was in Honey.
SPEAKER_01Honey? Wait, the Mariah Carey? Yes. No way. Mariah Carey's a top Mariah Carey's a top four diva in Zed Hike podcast lore. Number two, I think I should have.
SPEAKER_00Never been cast. I don't remember her in that.
SPEAKER_01Is that the one with Freddie Prince Jr. I think so, right? FPJ?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I do remember. He's one of my favorites. Freddie Prince Jr. played one of the characters in Scooby-Doo in the human remake. Do you know which one? Fred. Fred, that's right. And so, Dan, if you ever watch Scooby-Doo and you end up watching the live version, he plays Fred and Michelle Geller plays the girl in purple. Right, right, right, right.
SPEAKER_02Sarah Michelle?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. I forgot I just went with her middle name, yeah, Michelle Geller. Uh that was kind of funny. But yeah, so we we re-signed Dallas. So it's kind of interesting because we yeah, great tangent. It's definitely on a tangent. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, but the weird part is so we signed Dallas Goddard, which is good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And we signed, we re-signed Grand Calcateri. Actually, today in Hollywood Brown. So I'll talk about Hollywood Brown, but we signed Hollywood Brown. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And today they were like, hey, Hollywood, do you know anyone on the team right now? And then he said, and I was kind of curious. I'm like, does he? I don't know. And then he was like, Yeah, he said, uh, G Calc.
SPEAKER_01G Calc? He was like, Yeah, my boy G Calc. G Calc. G Calc is something I buy at CVS. Grant Cal Grand Calcutta. G Calc is the thing that I get, you know, after swimming in a real pool at you know at CVS. You know? Yeah, I don't think anyone's ever getting two tubes of G Calc. It's even kind of weird that we re-signed G Calc. G Cal G Calc.
SPEAKER_02He's not exactly a fan favorite, yeah. But he's cool.
SPEAKER_01G Calc is a supplement I give to my patients so they don't get hip fractures. You know, this is a weird. It's kind of a weird, but then we also signed Johnny Munt, some random free agent, yeah. And then we all today we signed Stone Smart. Two Ts.
SPEAKER_04Two Ts.
SPEAKER_01He has two Ts in his name. Stone Smart T. It's you know it's it's smart to size the well, you know, it's interesting. I I know I met a person whose name is Scott with one T. What? And it made me think to myself, like, that's yeah, I agree. It's Scott derogatory, right? And then he used to always joke all the time. Whenever he would say, when he'd meet somebody out, and he was a kind of a weird dude, but Scott with the single T would always say, Hey, that's Scott T-T, and I'd be like, Oh, please. No, just don't talk, just don't talk to me. He's got an extra T. Yeah. He'd be like, Scott T-T. And I'm like, no, you're you're you're the one who's wrong because your name is actually a group of people that live in the UK. Yeah. Right? Like your name is wrong, right? Yeah, that's farming. No, that that's been a good thing. Oh, thanks. That's good. All right, let's move on. I got a few chocolates. All right, so you got G Calc, you've got so we got the tight end room. Well, let's let's let's over let's briefly flowing. Let's briefly break down how crazy the names of that room are right now. You've got Dallas in Philadelphia. You've got Johnny Munt. Johnny Munt sounds like I mean it sounds like a mutt. Munt is a weird name. Munt.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What does that what do you feel when you say getting married with children? Yeah. Yeah. Right. Al Bundy. Yeah. Mundy. I don't know why. So you've got J Mundy, G Calc, Dallas, and then Stone Smart with two Ts. Yeah, whatever. If I was the tight end coach, I'd be like, what the hell? Am I doing here? I mean, it's like a it's it's freaks and geeks.
SPEAKER_00You know, it's that's a oh freaks and geeks.
SPEAKER_01It is how how he's on his heater. Can you pull up a picture of Stone Smart? I would love Stone Smart. I want to get eyes on that. Yeah, I want to get eyes on that.
SPEAKER_02One of them I guess we'll make that.
SPEAKER_01Is his given name Stone? His first name is Stone. I think. There he is. Stone. He looks he does look stoned. Here, can you describe him for me? He looks stoned. No, no, no. Give me a nice description. Like as if Andrew Lyons was drawing it.
SPEAKER_03Took a nice drag.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'm trying to look through right now, Statboy's droopy eyes a little bit. Right now, Statboy is wearing reflective sunglasses in in my house, and I'm trying to look through the glasses. Look up a little bit. Down a little bit. Okay, now I'm looking at him. Yeah, he looks stone, right?
SPEAKER_00He's young, 27.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. He's 27?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's good. He was a fourth. He was quarterback, right? He was born back in the 4th of October. I don't know much about him.
SPEAKER_03He was born on the that's why do we know so much about this guy? He's going to be like a practice squad player for us.
SPEAKER_02Goddard and G Calc will probably make the team. Like they'll be the one, two.
SPEAKER_01G Calc got hurt, right? Is G Calc okay? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01G Calc.
SPEAKER_00He got hurt at the end of the season.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right. And he also couldn't block coffee. But he can catch. Yeah, you know what? Yeah. G Calc. Yeah. And then you got I think it's between Johnny and Stone for the third fight in. It's just a crazy rook. Yeah. But we got more. Yeah. So then talk about a fantastic four-five. Sadiq. Sadiq maybe another one. What if we draft? If you draft him, then you've got Dallas, Stone, Johnny Munt, G. Calc, and Sadiq. Sadiq. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's we'll just start like the I'll just start at the beginning of the depth chart. So we got Andy Dalton B. Do you want to do that? I'm just trying to get it.
SPEAKER_01This is your podcast. We don't got to talk about it for a while, but start at start at number one. What's his naming in the show? What player is number one for the Eagles? Number one. Jay One Hurricane Jersey. Yeah. And then number two is you said you're going down the roster. No, I meant like that char like by position. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You threw a wrench. No, he wasn't wrenched.
SPEAKER_01Now number two was Slay. Darius Slay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_01Which is who just retired. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You were a Slay fan, right? Slate? Yeah, I like it. Hello.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. He was cool. I I really liked him. Yeah, great. When he retires, but I don't think he's a Hall of Famer. But if he was in the Hall of Fame, would he retire as an Eagle or as in a Detroit Lion? Eagle. I think he would be.
SPEAKER_00I think he would go Eagle just because the Super Bowl. Because he got the ring. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I agree. I don't think it would be. But he is loyal. He loves the his lions.
SPEAKER_03I mean, he said if he came back, he would only play for the Eagles, right? So that's kind of an indication that he his heart's here still.
SPEAKER_01I consider him an Eagle, right? Like in my biased opinion. We're all wearing Eagles gear for the most part. Yeah. Yeah. I think Slay's an Eagle for him. I apologize, Dan, though. I want you to get right back into so we're at quarterback. Just trying to these moves. Yeah. So like Andy Dalton, we signed today, right? Now he's got he's got really nice Sienna Auburn hair. He's still got it. He has a nickname, right? Is it like the red the Siena rifle? Yeah. All right. Yeah, it's really nice. Or maybe the Auburn kid. Where do you go to school school? TCU. Yeah, he's a horned frog.
SPEAKER_02I think he'll probably be the third.
SPEAKER_01With the upset today.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01They'd be in a huge upside. Not really that huge upside. I'm willing to say that Andy Dalton is the most successful redhead in all of the NFL history. But no, I've there's I can't think of a redhead that's more successful in the history of the NFL.
SPEAKER_02Stat boy.
SPEAKER_01Stat boy, you gotta dig that up for me. But I mean in terms of longevity, this is his what he's I think he's 38. I mean he's he's an old. Oh wow. Yeah, he's an old folks.
SPEAKER_02There had to be like a D-lineman or an offensive line that had redheaded.
SPEAKER_01I I think I would say he's the most successful redhead in the NFL in the history of Sammy Bawn is considered the most successful red-headed player in the NFL.
SPEAKER_03He's a Hall of Fame quarterback for the Redskins back in the 1930s through 1950s.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, see, that's that's nice. Sandy Baum. Yeah, that was that was when Plumbers played against Plumbers. Another, another one. Sonny Jurgensen was redhead.
SPEAKER_03Oh, really? Yeah. He had red hair? Brad Johnson, who played for Tampa Bay. And he won their Super Bowl. He had red hair. Yeah, he might have been. What about a three-time pro bowler that also played on the Bengals before Mr. Dalton?
SPEAKER_01That would be one of my lookalikes, Carson Palmer. Yep.
SPEAKER_00All quarterbacks.
SPEAKER_01Where'd he go to? Where'd he go? Yeah. He was a he was a Trojan. What do you think of Carson Palmer? He was a handsome man, right, everyone?
unknownSure.
SPEAKER_01I'm not I'm not speaking to that. No comment.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
Mormon Temple Field Trip, Missionaries, & Reality TV Scandal
SPEAKER_01But yeah, all right, fair enough. So we got Dalton. I think he'll probably be the third quarterback behind McKee. I don't know. I don't think like well, so here's the question, Dan. Everyone's naturally saying, Tanner McKee, are we trading Danny Tanner McKee? Please, God, yes. You want to get rid of Dalton? You already have my name. I don't think Dalton's like a shoe-in two. Like that's risky. Yeah. Yeah. Dalton's an old man. Yeah. I think he's more like a three. So yeah, I don't think that means McKee's Dalton. So don't worry, folks. Danny Tanner McKee is here to stay. I hope so. I love Danny. Do you like Tanner McKee? So I think he's just wholesome. Yeah, that's a good that's a good word for it. Is he he like what does he do in the offseason? You know, I don't think he's like at fashion shows.
SPEAKER_00Isn't he Mormon? Can we talk about this? He is Mormon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, always the Mormon missile. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So he probably goes to church.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. What do Mormons do in their free time other than that? We don't know. Now, do you guys remember when the Mormon temple opened in Philadelphia and you got to did you get to tour it? No, I got sick. I I went. Yeah, yeah. A bunch of people did did tour it. You got to? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I heard you had to take your shoes off or you had to put a special like covers over your shoes.
SPEAKER_01Now, Dan, are you allowed to disclose anything of that experience or are we putting you at serious risk? Putting me at serious risk, but I'm a brave person, so I'm willing to talk about it. Oh wow. Okay. Please. Tell us. Just make sure your doors are locked. No, one interesting thing about that was so there it's the giant white church in Philly, right? I know it's like a dumb statement, but it is. And then your words. There's also across the street like a more smaller building. So that's like the that smaller building's where like the Mormons go every week for their service. But then that that giant beautiful it's a beautiful white church.
SPEAKER_02That's where they go like for I they only go there like a few times in their life. Like it's really it's like to be baptized, like a wedding, and I think a funeral or maybe.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so so you I didn't know you don't do services there. People don't go in and out.
SPEAKER_02No, like even I was like, oh, so like every Sunday you guys like do your thing here, and like they were like they were like we'll only be here like two more times in our life.
SPEAKER_00That's crazy. And I was like, spend so much money to do it. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's like it's for like very special occasions. And it's it's elders, right? I think that I mean, how often like you can fact like you know I'm not a Mormon. So so you only go in the building. But I just remember they were like, Yeah, like you only go in the building twice in your life. It's only for like extremely special occasions. So even if you're like and like don't like Mormon, like yeah, like don't Mormons donate like a big chunk of their salary or something. Oh yeah, it's a it's a great Ponzi scheme. I mean, I'm sure. Yeah, there was a lot of Mormon money that went into that. Yeah. Did you guys ever watch the show Big Love? That was a great show on HBO about Mormons.
SPEAKER_05I don't think I did.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Bill Pax. But yeah, like that did that was interesting that like they only go in that big one for but I'm sure they got a chance as a Catholic young man to go in there.
SPEAKER_00What did it look like on the inside?
SPEAKER_01It was beautiful. Yeah, it was beautiful.
SPEAKER_00Was it like all white on the inside too?
SPEAKER_01I forget if it was like all white. I just forget like do they have like an altar? Is there are there pews or rows? There were like different rooms. Like they would say that this is a room for a wedding, this is a room for baptism type thing. Yeah. And like the sex cold is downstairs. Actually, I so I work near that building. I won't disclose where I work. Oh, we work in the city. Yeah, the tallest building in the city. There's often these young people, usually young men that walk around.
SPEAKER_02Young men.
SPEAKER_00They're so cute. They're they they ask if you want to go to church.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they it'll be like a Tuesday. It'll be like a Tuesday. I'm like worried about it.
SPEAKER_00They're on their mission.
SPEAKER_01And they say, hey buddy, you want to go to church on Sunday? And like is that what they sound like? They don't feel like that.
SPEAKER_00No, they don't feel like that at all. Maybe toward the end of their mission when they like acclimated.
SPEAKER_01All these guys from Brooklyn, hey yo, yo, hey, buddy, you want to learn the Mormon fish?
SPEAKER_00I got the mother fish town and they were like, Would you like to go to mass with us? And I was like, no, thank you, but good luck.
SPEAKER_01Where do they where were they gonna take you though? You know, it's a little scary. Yeah, like if you say yes, I know. Maybe I'm maybe I was like, Yeah, yeah, like I don't know like what the procedure is. Would you go it to a Mormon? What do they do? Is it a meeting? Is it like what do they call it? Mass?
SPEAKER_00Is it is it a church, I think, is what they call it.
SPEAKER_01They just call it church. I forget.
SPEAKER_00And this is based on my real housewives of Salt Lake City.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Yeah. Experience. That's fair. I think that's accurate. And it's what's his name? Joey Smith was the uh founder of the Mormon thing. Right? He was a guy.
SPEAKER_02Was there news about someone on that show today? Yeah, she's not looking good. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01What happened?
SPEAKER_03She lost her whole season, right? Yeah. Someone from the um problems.
SPEAKER_00From a different not the Bravo show. Oh well. The secret life of Mormon Wives. It's not so secret. Someone makes some video not looking good. She's now the the was the bachelorette that was gonna air on Sunday. Which is now pulled up.
SPEAKER_01They pulled the whole season because of this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but she also had like allegate not allegations, like full-on like conviction.
SPEAKER_01Convictions.
SPEAKER_00Prior to this. So I don't know why they thought it was okay to bring her on. Yeah, pop goals. ABC. Yeah, it's not a good idea.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, you know, this is now out in the public eye. So is the Bachelorette canceled or are they going there?
SPEAKER_00They're not proceeding with it at this time. Well, this is good.
Death of Positivity Rabbit and the Ins/Outs of Rabbit Ownership
SPEAKER_01This is a rival broadcast company floundering. Yeah. I mean, Slay, you're just on the up and up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You you know what they should do is they really should do a Tom Brady season of The Bachelor. Or G Calc. Or G Calc. Yeah, sure. Why not? Everyone's like, ladies and gentlemen. Grant Calcutera. Who? Exactly. Yeah. But wouldn't would you guys, I feel like Tom Brady would be a shit.
SPEAKER_02Brady dating married Gary Slayer, can you tell us that? I don't know. Well, he was seen with Alex Earl.
SPEAKER_00And Alex Earl used to date Braxton. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Berrios, who played for Miami and then played for the Texans. Talk about an upgrade. I thought it was the Titans. I think he played for the Texans.
SPEAKER_00Dolphins. Oh, I think you're right. It was the Dolphins and then it got traded.
SPEAKER_01I'm just saying if you put Tom Brady on the bachelor and you have Gronk as a host, who says no? Would you watch that season? I would watch that season. And you definitely have like Giselle like comment come into the scene. She's in she had like a really good Super Bowl commercial, the one with her working out. She's she's on the up and up.
SPEAKER_00I don't remember that one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Maybe you're disagreeing. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe this was when I was going to bed. Yeah. Before I go to bed, I was thinking about Giselle working out. I gotta be careful here. Yeah. Yeah. But uh so then all right, let's move on to running back. It's a running back, yes, please. Damian Pierce. Oh, wait, wait. Let's have a moment of silence, folks. AJ Dillon is no longer a Philadelphia Eagle. Everyone, just real briefly, a moment of silence. What are we gonna do in a post AJ Dillon running back room? Yeah, I mean, he went to Carolina, right? He's with Kenny Pickett. He's at a better he's in a better place. Yeah, we can all agree with that. Yeah. For for him.
SPEAKER_02And Jalen Phillips.
SPEAKER_01Do you think he's gonna did did he bring the positivity rabbit with him to Carolina? Hopefully. Is that part of the package? It did not work here. So yeah, get it out. Did you Slay? I never got to ask you about the Positivity Rabbit. What were your thoughts on that at that point in the season?
SPEAKER_00I thought it was weird.
SPEAKER_01It was, yeah. It was an I thought it was weird. Do you think if it had worked, let's say we go on an epic run.
SPEAKER_00Thank God it didn't work.
SPEAKER_01Because would would you not see I'm pro bunny?
SPEAKER_00I love bunnies.
SPEAKER_01You do?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You're pro bunny. You gotta come to my house.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, stat boy loves bunnies. We have them as pets.
SPEAKER_01Did you ever have a bunny growing up?
SPEAKER_00No, but my brother I my brother, it was his junior year of college. He brought home a bunny. Wait, what? To my parents' house. His name was Chester.
SPEAKER_01Chester the bunny.
SPEAKER_00Yes, and I loved that bunny. Like I was fascinated.
SPEAKER_01What color, like Sienna or I think it was gray. It was gray, okay. That's the color. Not one of the colors. So Eddie's eating they got a pizza out of the pizza. Well, listen, Chester's not getting a few.
SPEAKER_00We were not pet people. And my parents were not pleased. And I was like, can we keep that?
SPEAKER_01Don't they? They kind of like smell, right? And they don't. Well, rabbits are not the most uh pleasant.
SPEAKER_00He he had to stay in the garage, which was kind of sad. So I spent a lot of time in the garage as like a 24-year-old.
SPEAKER_01They're more work. You're an empath, Slay. You you felt you felt the need to support that bunny.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03They're more work than you would believe they are. And they're not like a hamster that you leave in a cage. Like there's actual, like, you gotta keep them fed on time. And if they don't eat, then they go into this geostasis process where they don't eat. Earn into stones. No, like they're they're their digestive system, like, shuts down. Huh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And if they don't eat Oh my god, that's so settled.
SPEAKER_03And because they're prey animals, they don't show that. So like you look at them and they look fine, but they're actually like trying to try to hide that they're hurting. And what you can tell is if you see that they're not eating. So and in the day, they can end up going through a process where they die.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, you have to be really careful what rabbit is. Could you think of a better allegory to AJ Dillon and the Eagles than like our offense was essentially the rabbit that was starving itself to death and just didn't look like anything. Wow. You know, quite an analogy. Boy, we've really come for it full circle. Wow.
SPEAKER_00Do you think that was special?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. You feed them carrots.
SPEAKER_03So carrots are actually like a treat because they're very high in sugar. So you want to feed them just normal greens, typically like kale is our big one.
SPEAKER_01We usually feed our rabbits dog food, actually.
SPEAKER_03It's a broccoli rob. We're an Italian household, so we do broccoli rob, cheap a little of that.
SPEAKER_01I'll tell you, Chester the Rabbit probably, if he snuck a little bite of the pizza odyssey, I bet he would there's no geostasis for that. Nope. Yeah, quite the opposite, actually. I think they become quite hyperactive from a GI standpoint. Damien Pierce, any any comment on that, Jim? Is he no uh is he I don't even know.
SPEAKER_03He's gonna he's gonna be a practice call player. Yeah, because you had Tank as number two, you got Shipley as number three, and then you got him as like a do we do we keep Shipley? Is the question. Yeah. No, I mean I mean Damien had like 14 carries of all of last season. Like he's not gonna I think the guy you need to be talking about right now is Mr. Hollywood. Yeah, well we'll move on to wide receiver.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, discussion point. Hey Dan, keep us on task, man.
SPEAKER_02Uh Hollywood Brown is a former first-round pick in like years ago, probably I forget what year, but I'm gonna say 2018 by the Baltimore Ravens. He went to Oklahoma, played with Mayfield, played with Jeet Calc. And he was yeah, he's good. He he played there, he went to Arizona, and then he was with Andy Reid and Casey recently. Oh yeah? I just heard something. I don't know what that was, but everything's okay. Oh yeah, that's fine. Don't worry about that. Is that a wild rabbit?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think it is. I'll go check on it. Just continue. It might be turtle. So it could be. So yeah, Hollywood Brown was signed for a one-year deal and everything's okay.
SPEAKER_02So they come. Stay comb. Did we the interesting thing is like in Stephen, and Slider, I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
SPEAKER_01But like so now with okay, so you s you you signed Hollywood Brown, like so that obviously puts everyone's attention to AJ Brown. Yes. And like, is Hollywood Brown gonna be the two, or is he gonna be the three?
SPEAKER_02Or you know, so like now everyone's and the other thing about AJ Brown is I read and Steppo, you probably know this. Like, I read that if we trade him after June 1st, like we save a bunch of money.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's a big cap savings for them if they do it after June 1st. And I think they're just maybe trying to do something very under the radar here by taking a current brown player and just trying to switch him for another brown player, maybe change the numbers up, maybe no one notices, and maybe the player on the field, they're just like, he's having a really bad year. And he's like, That's not even the same brown.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think that's what they're gonna try to do. But yeah, I think there's a lot of smoke going on here with AJ being moved. Yeah. Because you've signed him for not a nothing amount of money. He actually is making more money than I think any of the third receivers made on an Eagles team in a while. So if you're counting him as your third receiver with AJ and you're giving him more money than you ever given a third receiver, there's probably a chance that there was looking to push him more to the second slot if AJ's moved.
SPEAKER_02I don't think it was well, it was one year dealing with it. I like Hollywood Brown. He's a he's a speed guy, so he needs to stay healthy. Otherwise, if he doesn't have his speed, he'll struggle.
SPEAKER_00Do you know he's from Hollywood, Florida?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, where did that come from, Dan?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think you're right. Yeah, it's Marquise Brown, but they they started calling him Hollywood because he's from Hollywood, Florida.
SPEAKER_00I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He grew up an Eagles fan. He uh said that today. So that was interesting intel. Interesting. We could also draft a wide receiver. So, you know, that's that's potential.
SPEAKER_01Like if we draft a wide receiver, Stephanie, like I think you would then you definitely you definitely uh you know probably are trading AJ. If you do it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I it depends on where we're picking as receiver too. Like if we're taking them in like a high round, I mean I feel like a third round receiver is a player that will actually get some playtime in the season, maybe not like a starter level stuff, but if you get somebody from round three or earlier, then yeah, I think there's a good indication that AJ's gone. But if you're getting a receiver later than that, I think there might be a chance he stays, but I don't think he's staying.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Jim, thoughts on Hollywood Brown. I I think it is kind of a Dotson fill-in, and I wouldn't necessarily say it changes where AJ ends up. I mean, I think Howie's just waiting for the right deal. I don't know. I it's the old June 1st. Hire they like save a bunch of money if after June 1st. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, true. So it's uh it's definitely something where I AJ's just an enigma, man. Yeah, I don't know what he's thinking. I don't know if it's is it a Hertz problem? Is it you know, because he's saying all the right things, but I think the actions are suggestive that you know maybe Howie's gonna try and trade him on in the draft, like during the draft. I think that's probably what's gonna happen. Yeah. But we'll see. But that's before June 1st.
SPEAKER_03That is before we that big dilemma comes with the the cat.
Slayer Sound Off (LIVE!)
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, that's a long ways away, too. June 1st, like yeah, it's it it comes, it always goes faster than you think. Like 30 or something. I mean, it might be, yeah. Who knows? Who's to say? Depends if uh it's one per week and then how many weeks between now. Pizza Odyssey's gone. We have to find good sponsors. TJ Maxx can only hold us for so long. Yeah, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, so then uh should we just keep this train going or well? I think we should actually do some sound off. Yeah, yeah. Because we actually have we have Slayer physically here for the sound off, the live sound off. So this is amazing. I mean, this is this is great. This is like I it's like watching Andrew on on a horse with uh paint and easel, you know. I mean, it's just an amazing thing.
SPEAKER_00Well, I know we don't really prepare for things, but I wrote some things. I prepare for things. Harry the Kays at the stadium is no longer no longer in service. Oh, really? Somebody else bought it or something. It's called Ghost, something ghost.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they it looks like it's going to become a corporate sponsorship area. And I think right now the first season is going to Ghost Energy Deck is the name. So Harry the Kays is no longer just energy deck. They're actually trying to make money off of this this area, the the stadium, which could put something on the what, bull? Bullpen, the bullpen area? You know what I'm talking about? Yes, bull's bar sounds. Yeah. I feel like that's coming next. I feel like that might be coming next. I was in uh Clearwater a few weeks ago and I met the bull at the coffee. Oh nice. Yeah, he was really nice. Uh have you ever been to this Harry the Case? Because I know I hear a lot about it.
SPEAKER_00You just like it's a it's a bar pretty much.
SPEAKER_03Right, like it's a standing remotely type thing.
SPEAKER_00You can walk through it to get to the other parts of the state. That's on the restaurant.
SPEAKER_03Is that only concourse like the first level or the tier of it? So I go through it, but I never actually stop and hang out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they have like high top tables. Right, right. Yeah, it's like it's always packed. Yeah, it's always packed. It's an easy like meetup space.
SPEAKER_03I guess it's a money, yeah, it's a money grab, I guess. Yeah, I mean, they're trying to find ways to to make more money for paying these players, but dang, you know, that's You see what Harry going away.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but they'll still play the pie apple pie at the end of the game, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03With some adaptation to like ghost energy. Ghost energy? Yeah, that's the name of the deck. That's kind of sad. Yeah, well, they paid the most.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I've never heard of the colour.
SPEAKER_03So what's the sound off here? Are we happy or glad or indifferent on this?
SPEAKER_00I think it's a negative.
SPEAKER_03Negative, yeah. I agree.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Alright, well we'll give it a shot. We'll see. Maybe maybe we just call it that anyway.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, I do have two positives for the Phillies.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00We now have eight helmets for the ice cream helmets. Whoa!
SPEAKER_03Yeah. No way.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. They posted a photo, yeah. There's like eight ones that you can pick from.
SPEAKER_03And what did they have before that? How many?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_03No. Do you did you like collect? I love those. Did you collect them?
SPEAKER_02I pretty much get one of those every time I go to any uh Phillies game. Are they always insane?
SPEAKER_00Do you go to a Phillies games? Do you have a lot of these cupboards? Not really.
SPEAKER_02Like I but I always like seven inning rolls.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I sell them but I yeah, like seventh inning, I like to get the helmet ice cream.
SPEAKER_03You know?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I get to so it's a certain time of the game. So when they start s when they stop selling beer, you transfer to getting the ice cream. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Because you get to keep the helmet. It's pretty cool. Yeah. That's like the colder part of the game, right? Would you mind enjoy it like earlier when it's warmer? Okay. Well, not in the summer, you know. Most Phillies games are warm weather. Yeah. Sun's out to like nine. So I guess I guess it's still warm at that period. Yeah. I know that's eight colors. Huh?
SPEAKER_00Well, I think they have different lo maybe it's like older logos or something. Or I don't know.
SPEAKER_03What do they have like the burgundy colored helmet? And then they have I'm gonna look it up. Yeah. Interesting. I wonder how many flavors of ice cream. Well, I heard they're also doing something new with like like a peanut peanut butter and jelly, like a Sunday or something, with like it's called like the shorebom or something. Yeah, apparently they're they're putting like a like a deep fried peanut butter and jelly on top of like ice cream with like like fruity pebbles or something on top of that. Yeah, they're they're going nuts with it.
SPEAKER_01Sanchez is getting something too. Yeah, that just reminded us all. He's he's he helped design some kind of sandwich or something.
SPEAKER_03Wow. So they're really like uh, you know, you go there and you're just looking for player type foods.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. That's pretty cool though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I don't go to a whole ton of games in the year, but you know, with the ones I go to, I'll I'll definitely experiment with what they got going on in the stadium.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you might as well enjoy it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And what are we looking at here?
SPEAKER_00I can't find the it must have been a tweet. I hope I wasn't fake news.
SPEAKER_03No. I think it I heard it on the radio when I was coming here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But another sound off, this is for uh the WNBA. Did you see they reached that deal?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00They are now gonna be getting paid more.
SPEAKER_03Oh, the players, right. Oh, nice.
SPEAKER_00I guess I should have been more prepared for this.
SPEAKER_01I know women's not sort of related. Women's March Madness the tournament's going on too. And uh that's kind of interesting because Connecticut's like 34 and oh, led by Gino Warrior.
SPEAKER_03I mean they're always crushing it, right?
SPEAKER_01Like I was like gonna even like the odds and like they're like the heavy favorite, but then you got you got UCLA, South Carolina led by Don Staley, Philly Native, and Texas, I believe, are the other number ones.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So it's kinda so yeah, I'm kinda yeah. I actually placed a few bets. I'm I'm kind of open UCLA. Do you have one of the other three? Do you have a female bracket? I didn't do a bracket. I won I was going to, but then I I just I made some bets on I I I basically need UConn not to win that tournament. Oh, okay. But they probably will. But if they don't, then I'm I'm in pretty good shape. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Interesting.
SPEAKER_02So I hope Gino like I hope he has like a bad night's sleep and they lose or something. I mean, he's so automatic for them.
SPEAKER_03It's crazy how how dominating it's been. Do Staley's sister, huh? Isn't it? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02They I don't know. I don't think that there was a relation.
SPEAKER_00I think that was.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh, and they'll tell me that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, for so just to be clear for the WMVA, the players' salaries are now tied to the league revenue. So that's putting a salary cap of 7 million up from 1 million, 1.5 million. So uh players I think can get paid between 300,000 and 600,000.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. That's a pretty decent salary.
SPEAKER_01I think that the well, excuse me, I I want to apologize to the fan base because someone hit Statboy's car again. And I had to go talk to him and explain to him that you know We're even at a different house. We usually do that on Warrior Road or Upland Way. This is not the right place. It's also weird because it's a cul-de-sac. So, you know, generally speaking, I think it was targeted, to be honest with you. Oh gosh. Yeah, it's all right. But most of the cars are kind of get home. Yeah, it's in it's in two to four pieces. All right, I might have to slipe upstairs. I think I caught WNBA salary. I am supportive of here. What a general equal pay for equal rights. Equal pay for equal rights. Are we talking about how much the positivity rabbit would cost if we sold it to the WNBA?$300,000 to$600,000. No, what were you sounding off on? I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00The WM NDA made a huge.
SPEAKER_01They signed their CBA.
SPEAKER_03They signed a new deal. Nice deal happened this morning.
SPEAKER_00So now they will be sorry, I'm trying to read that.
SPEAKER_03They're gonna have a salary cap and they're gonna have average salaries between$160,000 or yeah,$600,000 and a minimum salary of$300. I mean, it just goes to show how much popular it's getting. Yeah, that's really cool.
SPEAKER_00Salaries are now tied to legal revenue.
SPEAKER_03And the supermax for the players is now up to$1.4 million. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Hell yeah. Penn's basketball coach, Fran McCaffrey, his son dates Caden Clark. So when Pen when Penn men's won the Ivy, Caitlin Clark like gave them an Instagram shout-out.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Pretty cool. Nice. Because he used to coach at Iowa. So Harry the Case is now subsidizing the WMBA, is what I picked up on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's those are sound off pieces.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yes. Ghost energy. Yeah. And uh yeah. I think there was something else we said too. I forget what it was. Yeah. But yeah, we'll be talking about it. Oh, yeah. Well, the different things. Yeah, Harry Decay and just the different things. Sanchez has a sandwich, and who what was the one that you said?
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, and then uh Schwarbaum. There's like a new Sunday that has like a peanut butter jelly.
SPEAKER_01So there's eight ice cream and the helmets. Well, that's nice. I'm looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_03Don't you get that? The helmets? Oh yeah. What do you mean? That's a staple.
SPEAKER_01I would say that I get it like every I but I'm always a big Bulls barbecue guy when we go to the stadium. Well, that's the short the the burn end, burn in sandwich.
SPEAKER_03Yes, it's bus. But the concern is now if Harry's is going, you know, is the bull the next location that's going to get sold off to be sponsored something. Oh my god, I hope something, something. That would be awful. Yeah. They're just kind of selling out right now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Boy, that would be trouble.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. What about bulls that go?
SPEAKER_01Do we have emails to catch up with?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we do. I mean, so are we are we good? Yeah, are we good? Slayer is sound. Thank you very much. I appreciate that. That that's a better. I'd rather have her say it in person than have me just read it off an email. Yeah. It sounds so much better.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So actually, we do have a little fan mail this week. Um, actually a new one from our from a fellow named Two Toes Tony. Oh, double T Tony. Oh, wow. Two toes.
SPEAKER_02Two toes or two. Two toes.
SPEAKER_03Does everybody have two toes?
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I don't know either to both questions. No, you might figure it out as I go through this. But yeah, it's it starts off by saying, uh, I'm really enjoying your podcast, which is wildly entertaining, eclectic, and so much more than just Philadelphia Eagles football. Thank you. Yeah, he says, I'm from South Carolina and officially petitioning said hike to be your sixth international listener location. Remember, South Carolina was issued their declaration of succession in 1860. So as a newbie to said hike with the hope to develop a more intimate and personal relationship. Can y'all explain your handles on one of your on one of your podcasts? Which is currently this one. We're going to talk about it right now. And he's like, he he believes that he already knows the story behind Stat Boy's handle, but he has not heard the reason behind Dr. Tat's or Panda Dan's. And now we're gonna ask Slayer about hers as well here. So he's a little confused. He's like, so he wants to hear those, and then he's also asking, he's wondering whatever happened to the ready before the said hike part of the moniker. And he's like, uh, and he he wants to sign off by saying, Bless your hearts. It's two toes, Tony.
SPEAKER_01Wow, well, so yeah, come on.
SPEAKER_00Bless your hearts is kind of like mean.
SPEAKER_01That's actually that's what he said. You know what? That was the first thing I was thinking, Slayer, is actually that is that is actually Southern for F you. Whoa. That that's actually right. Confirmed.
SPEAKER_00We don't even need Stop Boy for that one.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why we're reading the email of a Confederate apologist. I feel personally uncomfortable with this. You know, South Carolina is a group of, you know, Clemson colored jerks, in my opinion, if I'm if I'm painting a broad stroke here.
SPEAKER_03This could be our sixth international listener.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna like we don't recognize South Carolina as an independent nation. I recognize South Carolina as a place I drive through on my way to Atlanta when I was a fellow at Emory.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I need South Carolina to win the women's tournament with Don Staley.
SPEAKER_01South Carolina had their chance to have their own nation and they lost. And now he's asking about what a mind. He wants to know your handle.
SPEAKER_03Why are you?
SPEAKER_01I'm not handling anything. What's your why give him any? What is that?
SPEAKER_00He's upset with screening Z emails going forward.
SPEAKER_03Actually, this is his question. This question's a good question. Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01This should have been answered like 15 episodes. I mean, I think this is a podcast of discretion. I believe the first 10 minutes of this podcast's history, we said we're not going to talk about where we are or who we are or where we're from. And then we've spent the last 18 episodes kind of just expressing ourselves.
SPEAKER_00A bunch of Easter eggs.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, I'll tell you, I don't know if I'm ready to disclose anything further about Tat. Tat stands I what I'll what I will tell this this sloth uh two two-toed person, Confederate apologist, is that Tat is an acronym. That's all I'm gonna give him. He can figure it out from there. Interesting. Panda, what are you gonna tell him?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I was planning, you know, I like to do these things in slow, gradual process. So I was planning to disclose Pandadan origin. Probably like episode 63 or so. I'm gonna hold on.
SPEAKER_01So so hang tight.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna keep for that strategy. I appreciate that. Another non-answer. I appreciate the question, but yeah, just stay tuned. You know, probably fall of 2028, you'll find out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's it. Sounds good. So Slayer, it looks like it might be up to you to make this listener somewhat happy in some capacity. Can you can you help him out? Are we holding back yourself?
SPEAKER_00I might hold back a little bit. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I have to follow the rules.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. There are no rules.
SPEAKER_00But it I guess this I mean it definitely started I didn't have a a fantasy football name when I came into the to Zulu Nation.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00And I think it came about we were in Dr. Tat's old apartment.
SPEAKER_02Okay. That's correct.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I think we were like walking to go out somewhere, and I think it just slayer's got a slay.
SPEAKER_01That's that's a piece of the puzzle, and I appreciate that. I try to we're not gonna break it down for slayer. There's layers to slayer. Slayer's got layers, and we're we're only gonna give you the superficial. I mean, you gotta stay tuned. I mean, there are Spanish, Bohemian, Australian, and German fans around that was Bohemian, yeah. Bahamin, Bahamanian folks. And we even have a guy in Boardman, Oregon who would love to learn about this. But listen, you know, did we did did Lost tell you what the secret of the island was episode four or eighteen? No, no, they disappointed you right at the end, and that's what we're planning to do. Yeah, just not in the inaugural season. Not in the inaugural season. You're gonna have to wait till the second season. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, 100% happen. Yeah. Don't worry, two, two, two, three. So this so this is gonna find out. So this South Carolinian needs to really, with all due respect, get out of here. Oh, geez. All right, buzz off. Well, that was nice. No, I I appreciate the email and just stay tuned. Yeah, bless you. Listen, yeah, the the cell crisis. So, like, that's just that's just like finishing the email and flipping you off. So I I felt on the defense the entire time. Slay, Slay read through the read between the lines as well.
SPEAKER_03Oh man, I should have just never read the end there. We would have been better off.
SPEAKER_02Staff boy's just the messenger.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, I always get yeah, I always get shot. I guess where we go now. Is this is this the finale at the finale? Are you correct? Are you gonna go?
SPEAKER_01Please. Who wants to be corrected? Did we do did we say anything wrong? I think it was pretty much a color. I I still think Clemson's a color. Yeah, I'll ask right now. Typing staff always types is Clemson a color?
SPEAKER_03I can't type quick enough. Yes, it is a color. It's officially orange. It's a shade of orange.
SPEAKER_00So there's five schools.
SPEAKER_01Now, depending on how you ask that question, if you had used an ED at the end of that, it could have gotten really hairy because it is South Carolina and we're south of the Mason Dixon, but we got a color. Yes. It's Clemson. So we just broke that. So Dan, your trivia question was wrong. Was off. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't know that. Yeah. Dan's looking shot. What a way to start off with the yeah.
SPEAKER_03Dan got Dan got a little blindsided there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So back from the start, we were talking about high point and their big upset today. The university mascot is Mouse. A dog Panther. See another cat. Where is the card? It's their color. Where is Hyperlandas? It's in yeah, it's in the Carolinas. In North Carolina.
SPEAKER_00Which one?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, North Carolina. The good one or the bad one? The northern one. The good one. All right, good. The good one. Alabama's player that was uh found with those felony charges recently. I think we described his marijuana quantity as about a pound. No, it's actually 2.1 pounds. That's a lot. That is a lot. Yeah. That's why it's a felony and he's busted. I mean, that would that would cover two. That would only cover two toast Tony for about three days, but that you know, maybe. Going to the other mascot. So we talked about the billion. I'm like, what the heck's a billion? I had to go look it up. Well, it looks like Jack Frost. If you go look at the you know the cartoons in is you know during the winter when you hang around Christmas time. Well, Jack Frostboy is a thousand years old and talks about Jack Frost. And he's barely apparently he's a mythical, good looking, good luck figure created in 1908 by a Missouri art teacher. Yeah. And he's designed to represent things as they ought to be.
SPEAKER_00I don't like that.
SPEAKER_01Let's just say that the interesting the creator of that mascot was on the Josh Holloway program heavily. He probably did about two Holloways a week, you know.
SPEAKER_03The Lehigh mascot was correct. Dan did point that out about how being an engineer. Thank you. Um then I my question was well, what kind of engineer? Well, it looks like he is an actual engineer, not like a train conducting engineer. He's an actual engineer. And the interesting part is he's a giant engineer, like he's a large-scale human, and he's looking through a surveyor's transit, which is something they use in the civil engineering field. No, don't bash that. Don't bash those guys. We're still talking about engineering. Civil engineering.
SPEAKER_01I was just dreaming of a billicum.
SPEAKER_03I mean, that was what it ought to be. Damar Hamlin, he was hit approximately between 8 55 and 8 56 p.m. I was pretty close. Yeah. Yeah, and that's when he hit he tackled the bangles receiver. Two. Why do you say bangles that many times? That's an 80s band. No, I like the bangles. Redheads, famous redhead players. You know who else was redheaded? Tight end. One of the best tight ends of all time. Redhead.
SPEAKER_02Is Carson Wendhead? He is a redhead. Yeah. How about that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's a future favorite.
SPEAKER_01But Jimmy Graham is overhead. Slay, that was a style for you. She always, yeah, Slay always had Jimmy Graham on our teams.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And we'll wrap it up with a little bit of not Slay or but just Darius Slay. More talking about like where would he retire? Yeah. Mr. Slay. Where would he retire? Well, he played seven seasons in Detroit. He played five in Philly. He had three bowl, three Pro Bowl selections for both teams, but he had one all pro with Detroit. So it's a slightly better season for Detroit Lions. But he got the ring. But he had the ring in Philly. Plus he was a team captain with the Eagles. Yeah. There's a lot more success from a career standpoint, I would say, as a player out of Philadelphia.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, that's all good stuff. Yeah, that wraps up the quick uh quick stat boy section. Well, I I think it's time to say outside of the status and state of Stat Boys car, this was a good evening.
SPEAKER_00I can't tell if you guys are joking about it.
SPEAKER_01It was a really, you know, my Mrs. Tat is at a point in her driving career where it, you know, it's a little tough to know whether or not, you know, you can see the cars and and it's past twilight and it's hard to see sometimes. And sometimes she doesn't wear glasses, and we don't know. So but outside of that, how lucky are we to have another new in-person guest and one that frankly is transit. I mean, where are you gonna be next week, Slate?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm gonna go to LA.
SPEAKER_01She's gonna be with her coworker twice. She's gonna be with TB12, she's gonna be on the beach, but she's also gonna be working hard. And you know, we are so lucky to have the type of podcast and the type of team here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Thanks, guys.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we appreciate it. Top five in person. Yeah, beautiful. Wow. I would say easily top five. Definitely, definitely the best look.
SPEAKER_00I'm just afraid Turtle's like outside, like waiting to come in.
SPEAKER_01He usually is, actually. Yeah, he's actually in Dan's Dan's basement. Actually, yeah. Dan will let him out. That's why we actually brought you over here. Muscle juxtaposition. Yeah. But yeah, no, I would say for the set hike podcast, I am Dr. Tat. And I'm Panda Dan.
SPEAKER_02North Carolina did lot, but did lose tonight. They said by night. Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_01Damn.
SPEAKER_02That's tough. Texas is gonna win, so I think. Unless I just jinx them, but they're gonna think it's gonna be.
SPEAKER_05No way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're up six with like eight. Oh, we still got one shot there. I would love to be an epic.
SPEAKER_01I think I should invest in Slay's pool. I'm gonna put money on your pool.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01We should do a pool of Slay's pool and see who wins that.
SPEAKER_00I gotta check my pool now. I'm very excited. Find out how to get there.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, no, thank you so much to Slayer for being here. You were a wonderful guest.
SPEAKER_05Thanks, guys.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Great listener. One of our favorite listeners here, the Slayer sound off. Has yeah, keep them telling me to have it in person. I mean, it was better. It was like, again, it was like watching Jordan shoot free free throws. Like I'm I'm kind of starstruck, to be honest.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's it's been amazing.
SPEAKER_01Stap, well, you good, buddy? Yeah, I'm good. Thank you. Except fearing my car. Well, that's okay. We'll just put some sienna on it. It'll look good. Everyone grab your favorite Clemson dress and go dancing because it is March Madness 10. What a time to be alive.
SPEAKER_02We got Philly's one week away with their home opening. Yep.
SPEAKER_01The upcoming Thursday we'll be probably live podcasting that, and it's going to be fun. And uh, Dan, I hope you enjoy the rest of your March Madness and throw out a little bit of onion sauce coming out there. All right, boys. Go birds. Enjoy your weekend. Be safe. Do a little dunkaroo. Do a responsible amount of uh Josh Holloway uh Kush this weekend and have a great time. With the kids. Let's go birds.
