Turtle arrives dressed like the founding father of Knicks anxiety in a pair of extra-medium Knickerbockers, and the boys immediately turn the NBA playoffs into a celebrity loyalty investigation involving Spike Lee, Ozempic Joe, courtside beer hazards, and the unsung battlefield heroism of NBA mop guys. The episode then somehow becomes a Supreme Court case on horse rights, where Dr. TAT defends Spurs fandom by arguing the spur itself is innocent, Baltimore remains bad for equine morale, and the Triple Crown may be collapsing under the weight of rest days and unpaid horse labor. From there, Set Hike!’s analytics department reveals the podcast may be internationally huge in Nuremberg and spiritually monitored by one mysterious Boardman, Oregon listener, which naturally leads Turtle into a World Cup explainer featuring Team USA expectations, Hessian trauma, New Zealand sheep nationalism, and Europeans discovering Buc-ee’s like it’s an alien civilization. The mailbag closes things out with Eagles first-touchdown trivia, Computer Scott’s deranged spelling bee, and a teenage golfer hitting two holes-in-one while winning bar credit he cannot legally use — because on this show, even golf achievements come with paperwork and underage beverage restrictions.

Hi.
Dr. TATWelcome everyone to the twenty-seventh inaugural episode of the Seth Podcast. I am your host, Dr. Tat. And with me, as always. And with you tonight is Panda Dan. Stat boy. Turtle. Turtle. Let us first start by I want to let the entire Set Hike community know that I have Pate the Piper. And I we I I for all the listeners, we currently see Turtle. He's doing a jig right now in his Knickerbockers. Wow. This is an amazing sight. I didn't even know he was wearing them until he just stood up. Yeah, I mean they fit perfectly. I went extra medium and it worked out great.
TurtleExtra medium is extra nice.
Dr. TATYeah, you're feeling good. Oh yeah. I didn't opt for the pocket ones. I I got you the cheapest pair of Knickerbockers I could find. Wasn't I supposed to get two? That would be if they went at all. So that's when did you put these on? Didn't you put them on in this household? Yeah. Just a few minutes.
TurtleThey got butt ass naked and put them on while you were making the tea.
Dr. TATWow. Yeah. Well, they look good. Yeah. I think they fit pretty well. What are your plans with them? Are you going to wear them during every game?
TurtleIt depends on what happens to the rest of this game. Are you going to are you going to wash them or dry clean them? I I don't know. They're they're of a very cheap material, but I feel either what may either method will destroy the.
Dr. TATI believe it's dehydrated cardboard is what he's wearing right now. So, you know, I I'm pretty sure if had he walked in with them during the thunderstorm that occurred earlier this evening, I think they would have been just a brown stain on his under yeah, under his under Carnivans. Yeah. Turtle, can you tell us about your New York Knicks playoff experience? I mean, you've been a lifelong fan. You can tell just with all the celebrities at the games, the the energy in New York City that it's special. I mean, I mean, when was the last time they won? Since is it 60s, 70s? Uh Richard Nixon was in office. Richard Nixon administration. Yeah. Yeah. What how has it been? Has it been fun or has it been as good as you expected?
Speaker 5It's been fun, you know. Knicks fans, we've been here before about you know, 30 years ago in '94. You know, for for myself, this is the uh the team I need in order to get my lifetime grand slam. I mean I've been waiting for that since 1996. So 30 years. So I'm excited, anxious. You know, right now we're we're up two games to one. John Mackerel is happy that the Knicks just made a basket, so we're we're we're moving in the right direction.
Dr. TATYeah. Who's your favorite like celebrity Knicks fan, would you say?
Speaker 5Uh you gotta go with Spike Lee at this point in time.
Dr. TATYeah. Yeah.
Speaker 5Like Spike Lee was going to the game, sitting on the sidelines, making an ass out of himself when the Knicks were horrible.
Dr. TATYeah.
Speaker 5So he's stuck to them like thick and thin.
Dr. TATYeah, I always think of so I think Spike Lee, like Knicks games, Spike Lee, always there through 100%. And then at Lakers games, it was always Jack Nicholson, was always sitting courtside. I don't know if he probably I don't know if he still does that, but uh yeah, you gotta respect that. I mean, and then like I guess the Sixers, like M. Knight Shyamalan's, like trying to be that guy, but he's not really that Klein, the dirty thing, like the unique haircut. I think there's that my my number one. And then you have this the sixth man or whatever. What do they call him? The the guy at the Sixers, the he's like the always sitting quartzai. I forget what they call him. Are you talking about David Dodge? Nah no, he's sleeping. I mean he's taking a nap. No, it's that guy that's always quartzai, and I forget what they call him. What the guy with the Pete's probably yelling right now. Oh, he's oh, the he's like an old guy. He's like a real estate guy, yeah. He's got he looks like Qui Gon Jin, a little bit like kind of a very sage old man.
Stat BoyHe's like an older. I think he was wearing an eye. He was a pirate?
Dr. TATYeah, he's dressed up as a pirate. Yeah. Yeah. I forget what they like they call him, but yeah, he's he's always there. I think his name's like Harold or something. Yeah. Sounds like he's very memorable based on our description. Yeah, do any other cities have like quartzai and celebs? I forget. Well, you know, I think it's important for us to review all of the celebs that were there at the Knicks because the truth is, I I think, and Turtle as as a Knicks fan, a lifelong, presumably Knicks fan, how many of them are real fans and how many of them just threw 50 G's down and said, I want to have my face on the TV and during this big event, you know?
Speaker 5Yeah, I don't it it it's hard to tell, but I said that's why that's why I went with Spike Lee. He's a diehard. Yeah, because Spike Lee's like the you know the six-man guy for the Sixers. Like we I remember seeing him at Sixers games when we went to the during the process, Dan. And you know, when the Knicks went through their similar doldrums, Spike Lee was always there. You know, what's it? Everybody loves a winner, and so now everyone is out in force, but you know, yeah, I respect the people that were there at the bottom.
Dr. TATI mean, you know, the last time Fat Joe was courtside, he was skin, you know, he was truly fat. He's actually lost trades, you know. Yeah, now he's like medium Joe or even you know, light Joe.
Speaker 5Yeah, he was Zembic Joe.
Dr. TATI mean, I like like I've been watching the Knicks this play. Like, I'm a I'm an NBA fan. I I like to bet on the games, as people know. Like I do, and I I like I've been following the Knicks. I mean, like Ben Stiller's been at most of the games. Yeah. Timothy Chameley. Shamalot. Yeah, yeah. Shamalala. Shamalot. Shamalala. He's been at like because they even like you probably know, he they even they came to the Sixers games in Philly. So like they were Yeah, you gotta respect that, you know. I mean, I don't know if I have to, but I guess you know, they're willing, you know, their money is just as green as any Sixers fan. I guess John Macron showed up, yeah, um, Chris Rock. There were I mean, there were so many. Who else was there? Bloomberg, Michael Bloomberg.
Speaker 5The guy uh like player like fell on Michael Bloomberg, like was like and like ended like in the seat next to Tumber the other night.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah.
Speaker 5I think the NBA oh basketball in general is a crazy sport like that, where like the fans are just like literally right there on the playing surface.
Dr. TATYeah, that's a great point. I can't can you think of another sporting event that regularly occurs where the fans are within inches of the field of play? Probably not, right?
Panda DanGolf, golf, football golf, yeah.
Dr. TATFootball starts to get really close. Golf does, yeah. That's like trout at the Eagles. Like he is like pretty, you know, he's right at the end zone. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, even there, there's a decent amount of space. Yeah, I think hockey you could bang against the glass. Hockey, you're essentially, but there's a big barrier with the glass, but probably the physical distance is similar to the best, but your feet are on the wood, man. That's it's pretty interesting.
Speaker 5You could we you could like trip somebody if you wanted to.
Dr. TATYeah, you could. And I I always wonder, like, when you get your food or drink, like how careful you have to be. Because if you spill something there, I mean, good lord, it could be dangerous. Oh, they got those guys with the the mops to go clean it up real quick. Yeah, just jump on. Now, let me just go through because I I you brought up something that I really wanted to delve into, Statboy, is like best on the field jobs of the different sports. I think NBA Mop Guy is one of the top five, don't you think? I mean, talk about excitement. You're like sometimes you're on the court while the game's playing and you're like doing your thing. So are you talking about? You've got to be quick at it. Yeah. Let me offer a few and feel free to add some. Like you could, like, just to clarify the mop, like your mop, like I guess there's a guy that mops the players' sweat and you know, footprints and all that. And then there's also the guy that mops, you know, fat Joe, like spilling his beer on the courts. I'm talking about the on the court, active guy, and it looks like the thing, it's not even a mop. It looks like a giant like magnifying glass that they rub against the ground that kind of roll, because it's a big wide circle, and I'm assuming it has some sort of an absorptive material. Is it it's not like it's not your traditional mop that's like shaggy? No, it's a shamwow. It's a shamwall. Yeah, I don't know if that's the name brand for it, but why are you saying it's so aggressively? You remember the shamwow guy, right?
Speaker 4Well, he was very aggressive. He was fantastic.
Dr. TATIs that the guy who's running for Congress?
Speaker 5So many shamwalls.
Dr. TATI think Computer Scott was Shamwow guy for Halloween ones. Shamwow.
Speaker 5Dude, wasn't he on cocaine talking?
Dr. TATI thought well, you were that's the slap chop guy. Uh-huh. Was the shamwow guy alive? Did he die? I don't have to look at it. You were you were Billy Mays one year, right? I was Billy Mays. Billy Mays was the guy who would like saw like a top and half and then put like a polymer over it and then ride in a boat. What was his catchphrase? Billy Mays here. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Billy Mays. Yeah. So, but just to get back to it, yeah, I'm referring to not the fat Joe Mopper, but the guy on the court. And I'm telling you, during the game of like the game could be going on the opposite end of the court, and they're they're going in, they have to run in and swipe. So you've got that.
Speaker 5Jim, point of cloud. Would you consider the caddy more of a coach and not in this category?
Dr. TATThe caddy is more of a coach. Like I would consider that like an assistant coach on the bench. So for me, you've got mop guy in the NBA. You've got kid who gets the T off of kickoffs in the NFL. Or dog. Or dog in I guess some instances. Tennis ball boy. Tennis ball boy. That's a good one. They're right there. They get like a great view of those. I mean, I got a Dan famous.
Stat BoyBall girl. Ball girl? Yeah. Ball girl. What else do you have? And Dan's favorite? The ice dudes. Ice dudes. Ice dudes. You love an ice dude. The ice dudes are fantastic.
Dr. TATSo what's your favorite of those? Like or rather, which one would you want to be employed in? I think that would be a ball girl. Like the Phillies ball girl. You get to like grab the ball and then give it to a kid. That's a girl. Yeah, you can't do that. Would you dress up? Who's to say I can't do that? It's 2026.
Speaker 5The bad bad boys, you have to hang out with Dug out with all the players.
Dr. TATBad boys. Which one would you pick? Oh no, I kind of like that. I mean, I like tennis, the tennis ball boy. I think that's pretty exertional, though, Dan. I think you're you're feeling pretty tired because it's a good thing. Do we consider a cannon? It's like a squat. You're like squatting things right next to the net and you have to run out. They almost get hit, too. Like when they serve it and it's out. Like they have to like dodge the, you know, it's crazy.
Stat BoyWhat about a golf caddy? Are they considered like oh we just said that some more of an assistant coach and not we'll edit that out?
Dr. TATYeah, that's okay.
Stat BoyWe'll we'll go back in time and make sure we're sorry. I'm just amazed that the sham wow guy is actually the same slap chop guy. Sham wow guy is slap chop guy.
Dr. TATYeah, it's the same dude. Wow. And then you're not dead. You were telling me that dogs have taken over the kickoff tee? What does that? Is that a dog football? I think the Clarendons might do it. I don't know. Clarendons have a dog that takes their kickoff tee? I remember getting real mad. Like, yeah, like I think Eagles or Penn State like played with the team that did that. And I remember being like, I don't like I love dogs, but that dog. So you feel that that's disrespectful to the nature of the work? You could tell they were trying to like make this a magical experience against like my team, and like I just did it like it.
Stat BoySo so the Panthers employ a black Labrador named Ripkin. Ripkin, the dog.
Dr. TATRetrieves the kicking tea. I mean, that is cool. Like I do love it. Do you think like does the dog get a nice salary for that? What's the league minimum for a dog tea, you know, retriever? So they pay the dog, but the dog then gives that to his owner? I mean, you know, it's like a child actor, I think, right? Like it's that the lines are blurred, and you know, Ripkin's gonna burn out eventually, and then he'll he'll start going to the draw tracks.
Speaker 5Yeah, he's only got maybe 10, 12 years. Yeah.
Dr. TATSpeaking of retrievers, like how like how many retrievers, you know, I I think a golden retriever, there's a black lab burdour retriever, there's a chocolate one of our St. Dot's classmates. I won't I won't die, Namu, but had a chocolate lab retriever, which I thought was really cool. Chocolate lab. So yeah, there's yeah, yellow lab, black, chocolate, golden retrievers, like a different breed. Yep. Any other colors? Uh no, I think that's it. I mean, this is what people came to listen to this podcast. I think in terms of retrieval dogs, that's it. Now, there's a bunch of herding breeds, right? Border collie, collie, shelte, Shetland sheepdog, sheepdog, non-Shetland sheepdogs. What was the name of I used to be border collie? It was like crazy. It was like uh Tara, Terra of Terror. No, wasn't it? Who's Bonnie? Bonnie OG was Tara. You guys I don't know if you guys remember that was way back when that was that was pre-Turtal. Bonnie was so. Bonnie was like on some kind of drone. Bonnie used to watch. We love Bonnie. Bonnie would watch the baseball. It's the only dog I've ever seen follow baseball pitches. And so I think Bonnie would be a great, you know, either Brandon Marsh or something. You know, it'd be kind of funny if you took all of the jobs and you just rotated them one. So like the ball girl became the mop girl, the the ball girl became the ball dog. Like actually, a dog would be Bonnie would be great at like retrieving the foul. Because they would be going after every ball. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you gotta have poise to do that. Yeah. Yeah. But I think NBA Mop Guy, that's it, that's actually a pretty important gig. Yeah. It's just kind of stressful though. Like if there's a breakaway, like you gotta run the hell out of that.
Stat BoyThe dudes coming down a court are monsters. They're not like small people.
Dr. TATThey're like seven feet dudes. Yeah. Yeah. Well, don't you think if if Wemby accidentally ran into you, would you even fall over? I mean, the dude is he looks like fly. The dude is built like Jack Skellington. I feel like he just would get sawed in half if he ran into me.
Stat BoyWould you rather get 236 pounds?
Speaker 5Would you rather get run over by Jalen Brunson or hit with a tennis ball at 120 miles an hour?
Dr. TATBrunson. Now the game, the the games have been pretty contact heavy. Did you feel like do you feel like there's a pro-Spurs bias to the ref refereeing over the last game or two?
Speaker 5Yes, because that's what the the coach said that blamed the loss on the other night.
Dr. TATSo yeah, Mike Brown lab retriever. Yeah. Yeah, I mean it's great basketball. Like Brumson's playing at extremely high level. Wemby is just I like I've never seen a player like that, just with his size and skill set.
Speaker 5I love him more physical. Like let him go at it.
Dr. TATIt's really a different. Yeah, like I was thinking about that recently. Like the NBA play, like even as the Sixers, they got that new guy, Mike Gansy, as the new V, you know, the new GM basically. And like yeah, playoff basketball is just a different, it's almost like a different league. Like you, you know, you have your regular season and like like Maxie played great during the regular season, and then but you could see like, yeah, he has to get more experience playing in the playoffs. It's kind of cool how it's so physical and like you know, there's certain players that really step up.
Speaker 5The announcer Monday night was like like so upset over it. He was like, it's getting too rough and you know, too physical.
Dr. TATOf course, he was getting assaulted. That play-by-play guy is the next play-by-play guy during the season. So I think there's way too much New York bias going on, to be honest with you. If the Spurs succeed tonight and we get to 2-2 Turtle, what's our worry level on a scale of not worried at all to it's the end of days?
Speaker 5Well, I I probably have to start questioning, depending on what happens in this game and how bad they would lose by it, I have to start questioning the wearing of Knickerbockers because you know we were prior to wearing wearing the Knickerbockers doing quite well. I think Donald Trump would get a lot of flack because you know they were at a whole win streak going until he showed up, and then they would be 0-2 since he showed up. And then he had just definitely start work, you know, start worrying because at the end of the day, it's been a long time since this team has won a championship.
Dr. TATSo And that would be what, 1970 or earlier? It was in the 70s, I've heard but the Nixon administration.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Dr. TATOh, I'm sorry, the Nixon administration. Yeah. Richard Nixon.
Speaker 5Richard Nixon, yeah.
Dr. TATOkay, gotcha. Okay. Well was it 73?
Stat Boy73, yeah.
Dr. TATBut credit to Dr. Tat for giving turtle the knickerbockers. I mean, that you know, the man, he's a man of integrity, a man of his word, and I lost anyone who did it. I think I would have looked really good in a tri-tip hat, but I you know, we'll have to save it for a future bet.
Speaker 5Well, Dan, there's one thing I had to address here with Jim, and that is his are you rooting against the Knicks, Jim?
Dr. TATVery much so.
Speaker 5See, I I I I get that you're anti-New York bias here. However, how can you root for the Spurs? The Spurs is an object worn on cowboys boots that are sharp. They literally do to jab horses to run faster. And I don't understand how you can support hashtag horse rights and the whole thing behind the object that's causing them so much pain.
Stat BoyNo, watch them tap dance. Watch them tap dance.
Dr. TATLet me let allow me to answer that very reasonable question by saying that San Antonio is a city I love. Have you ever been to San Antonio? I have not. Now, San Antonio has a great river walk. There's a great river walk. Charles Barclay is very fond of the females that come from there. He's outspoken on it. And so for me, it's all about getting good Mexican cuisine when you're eating. And actually, the Spurs stadium is one of the few that serves a burrito. And so when you're eating a burrito, you think to yourself, man, I'm in San Antonio. I don't really worry about whatever, you know, representative object or thing they are. You know, a spur by itself is fairly harmless. It's a spur, you know, it's like it's like when it used to be the Washington Bullets, right?
Stat BoyHe's going with the gun argument. It's not the people, it's the people.
Dr. TATSo it's the Washington, it used to be the Washington Bullets. I mean, it wasn't the Washington shot out bullets at somebody else, and it's currently the San Antonio spur. A spur just sitting on a table is just going to be a spur. Wow. Well, he went down a path. I didn't think we were getting better.
Stat BoyYou know what? I'm going to tell you what. The media training we have here at said hike is top-notch. The way he navigated that question, it was fantastic. I never heard of it.
Dr. TATIf we go back to who would win, you know, a spur versus anything, everyone would be like, well, the spur is an inanimate object that is sitting on the ground and is completely inert. How a spur is used, you know, the problem is the guy, the boot, the cowboy is the problem, not the spur. Okay. Right? Yeah. Right? Sure. You know, it's and I I support horses. Yeah. I I'm a I'm a hashtag horse rights2026 guy, but you know, the whip isn't the problem. It's the man wielding the whip. We accept that. The spur is not accepted.
Panda DanAll right.
Dr. TATAlso, I I despise New York. I mean, I loathe New York with a capital loath.
Stat BoyIs it because they're like us in the sense that they're a crazy fandom?
Dr. TATThey're crazy fandoms. They're not like us at all. They're crazy fans. They're they are crazy fans, but they're they're like annoying crazy fans. You know, we're normal.
Stat BoyIt's the it's the sense that these guys are fair weather, is what you're saying. Is they're quiet when they're not great, but then when they're good, they're obnoxious. Yeah. Eagle fans are just obnoxious year-round, regardless if they're good or bad.
Speaker 5That's right. I see what you're saying, and I will then cite you the Sixers' recent playoff run.
Dr. TATYeah. No, I mean, listen, I do I want the Spurs to win only because they're playing the Knicks. I would probably I I I don't I think the type of game that Oklahoma City plays with their, you know, fake fouls and the flop, the flopping's a problem, right? Yeah, they need to go. I would actually, it would be closer. I would have a harder time rooting for OKC. But these Spurs, man, they are just hardworking, hard dedicated, seven foot-five Frenchmen that are really committed to winning it all. Right? Yeah, no, they're young. I watched them a lot. I thought they would be inexperienced, like coming into the you know, they haven't been in the playoffs recently, but but yeah, they've been playing like a championship caliber team, and and I think they're gonna come back and win this series. Wow. You heard the player folks. I don't know if that's true. Did you did you lay some lettuce on that, Dan? You got a little cut act when they were down one-nothing, I put uh a Benjamin down on the Spurs. Oh Charles Benjamin? Yeah, wow. There you heard it. Speaking of horses, going in tempo just won the Belmont stakes. Who we should we should discuss this because how do you feel as a horse fan, knowing that this this horse very well could have been a triple crown winner and was just artificially out of the preakness. Yeah, yeah, it's the second straight year it happened. Sovereign team won last year, did the same thing, won the Derby, skipped the preakness, won the Belmont. What's what's going on here? I mean, it's not totally like clear argument because like would they have won the Belmont had they won the Preakness?
Speaker 5Yeah, yeah, because there are plenty of horses that did the Derby.
Dr. TATIt's much easier to win the Belmont after you skip the Preakness. Why is that? Because they're not spending time in Baltimore? No, just like energy level and conditioning, you know, it'd be like Like, could you, you know, if you run a marathon a week later, you'd you'd probably be better off running, you know, having some weeks of rest in between.
Speaker 5But Dan, something that something that really concerned me, and I wanted to get your view on this as like probably more of a sign that course racing needs to do something to maybe adjust our calendar or incentivize people running in the triple crown. Is that I don't and correct me if I'm wrong, I don't believe any of the horses that ran in the Preakness came back for the Belmont. When I was going through, I don't I don't think there's anybody.
Dr. TATNo horses from the Preakness came back to run in the Belmont?
Speaker 5Yeah, I don't believe any of them did.
Dr. TATYeah, did any horse step where you'll have to see how many horses. Yeah, none did. I thought it I thought of Chelsea might. I know it's just like living the dream, but you know, not winning any races. But yeah, I don't I I think Turtle is accurate in that. Which is probably which is much more unusual. Whereas a few of the Derby horses skip the pre like Chief Wallaby and Renegade, like they ran.
Speaker 5Well, then you'll have horses that traditionally they'll do you'll either have them, they'll skip Kentucky and do two and three. Or like or they'll or they'll you know they'll do they'll they'll do one and two and then like, oh, what if I can do the third if they don't like it? Hold on, hold on.
Stat BoyThe Belmont stakes, it's the 158th Belmont stake. Why are we now all of a sudden describing an issue with the scheduling of these horse races?
Speaker 5Because it's more of a recent thing. Why? What's going on recently? I think they've Are they selling more horse roids? I think they decided they need to take better care of horses. Have the horses gone through.
Dr. TATThese horses with this. Horse raids have. Oh, here we go. Now we've got Panda Dan. He's trying to horse plain this problem to me. And the truth is, the problem is the people, not the horses. And we've said that since day one, right? Classic Spurs fan. Do we even know if the horses know that they're in the race?
Stat BoySo then this analogy, the horse is the spur?
Dr. TATI think we're describing it.
Speaker 5I think the problem is it's really come full circle, Jim. Oh my god.
Dr. TATThe problem really lies in the fact that Baltimore is one of the three places that they have to go, right? I mean, Kentucky's a wonderful place. We all know that.
Speaker 5Well, well, Jim, for the record, and we discussed this as something that I was wrong about. It the race this year was not in Baltimore. So the horses could have solely avoided Baltimore this year.
Dr. TATIt was adjacent to Baltimore. It's Baltimore adjacent. Which is just as bad. Yeah.
Speaker 5And and also Belmont for the second year in a row, actually, was not in Belmont, New York. It was in Saratoga Springs. And it was already a mile.
Dr. TATYeah, it's beautiful. I guess two furlongs.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Dr. TATWhich it sounds to me like the triple crown is just falling apart. The tradition that Statboy was espousing seems to be basically on a razor thin edge here. We're it looks like we're about to fall into chaos.
Speaker 5Now, in addition to you know caring about the horses and the you know their workload, they've also stopped giving out the it used to be a five million dollar triple crown bonus. Yeah. So if you won the triple crown, you had an extra five million dollars. They discontinued that. Why? I think probably because there's less money in horse racing than they used to be.
Stat BoyAre there horse strikes now? Are these horse striking?
Speaker 5No, there's just less money out there. They lost sponsorship of where the the money's not there for it. And they probably also the Breeders Cup is also now a much more you know a prestigious race. A lot of these horses will go and run in later in the year.
Dr. TATYeah. But yeah, we'll see. It was a good triple crown season. And I disagree horse racing this summer, and we'll see. We didn't have someone contend for the crown, man. It's a shame.
Speaker 5Yeah, it is sad. I screwed up, I screwed up my superfecta. I had I had one. If I would have bossed it, I would have hit the superfecta in uh in Dunbox.
Dr. TATYeah, always next time turtle.
Speaker 5The two and the three horse.
Dr. TATYeah. One thing I wanted to address too, which I didn't talk to you uh to any of you about yet, is you know, we look at our uh listener data, and you know, we don't we don't know like who listens or what, but sometimes they give us like locations and stuff, and and we saw that it's kind of been an interesting story. So, you know, at the at the early days of set hike podcast, we had I think one of our first listeners like outside of Delco or Philadelphia was actually, you know, I mean I know it's hard to believe, but across the country actually in Border, Bordman, Oregon. Oh yeah and then the last two like then I don't know where like we just figured he that he or she listened and just said the hell with this podcast, like it's not what I'm looking for. And then the the last two episodes, 25 and 26, Boardman, Oregon person has returned and listened to the podcast for for a total of three listens. Yeah, I think it was well.
Stat BoyThat's hopefully they come back to 27 and they hear us talking about such an individual.
Dr. TATWell, let's just say shout out to Boardman Oregon. I don't know, you know, Panda, I can't tell you why that's happening, other than I assume it's still very much a robot that was probably ran out of batteries and someone went to the Boardman you know hideout where these robots are mining data, and he was like, Oh crap, this one's not working, and he pressed a button and it just kind of turned back online. Yeah. I mean, I I would like you know, like if if this person, whoever you are in Boardman, Oregon, if you ever want to you know, send an email set ikepod at gmail.com or reach out or come on the pod and I would ask you directly do you think there is an actual person in Boardman, Oregon that listens to us? Absolutely. I mean, yeah, I I I hope you really believe that. Yeah.
Speaker 5Boardman, Oregon person, reach out. Let us know if you're a real original.
Dr. TATYou probably live like by a nice, like like a body of water in Oregon. Maybe like there's the lakes in Oregon, right? Uh sure.
Stat BoyLet me just say yes, and this is my rationale. Lay it up. All the cities of all the listens, Philadelphia has 169 listeners over our entire lifetime. Havertown has 154. Who's third on our list? Nuremberg, Germany. Yeah, we are. We did address that. I'm telling you, yes, this is this is 100% true.
Dr. TATAnd we've also received like verification that these are real listeners in Germany, like Guten Tag from our uh RD department. What do you think makes Turtle? You're a man of the world. What makes our podcast so interesting to someone from Nuremberg, Germany?
Speaker 5I don't know how how close is that to the military base in Germany. Is there a military base near there?
Dr. TATYeah, likely. There's multiple. I'm sure there's probably one. What are you insinuating?
Speaker 5I'm just saying there's probably Eagles fans are like oh, it's the old transplant.
Dr. TATI actually do agree with like a transplant theory. And shout out to Mrs. Tat. She's an outstanding social media coordinator for the best, not the best. She must have tickled some her jury palata content was unbelievable. Fantastic. Shout out. Love you, Mrs. Tat. But I think she must have tickled the fancy of some German kind of proclivities about 12-ish episodes ago. Like because, you know, the you know, she was busy with Kid Tat for a period of time, and so I, you know, begrudgingly gave her a couple of days off, you know, and she she and I agreed that you know it's probably important to raise a child when they're in their very infant newborn stage, so be it. That's what they say. Yeah. But yeah, I mean, but it's the Bavarian region. Now, you traveled to Germany. Have you been to Nuremberg? I've been to Munich the same summer you went there, actually, Dr. Tat. Yeah, I've been to Munich, and that's about it in my German. So that sounds like a no. Yeah. And I think that we during our German trip drove kind of through, but not to Nuremberg, if you catch my drift. No, I don't understand. Uh we we never stopped in there, you know. And actually, we spent most of our Germany trip in Austria, which is quite nice, I'll tell you. Yeah. Austria, then you go to Salzburg. Austria is like the New Jersey to Lithuania and Philadelphia. The Delco of Austria? Yeah, what's the Delco of Austria? I don't know. What what do you think the Delco of Austria is? Oh, Austria? Didn't we say there was like a Delcour? Well, I think we were talking about that, and we The Delco proclaimed that there is a Delco of Europe. I just forget what that's Ireland Boardman bot. I forget. Ireland is probably up there, but did we say any specifics there? I don't know. I have to look at push for Staboy. Yeah, I could figure it out. But yeah, we'll have to dig that up. But what I would say is that so you're yeah. Like Salzburg Austria was pretty cool, right? It was nice. It was good. Yeah. The horses were happy there because they were not stirred or whipped. Mozart's from there. Sound of music. We drove by his house. We did the Sound of Music tour thing. So I you know, I'm a big fan of any, you know, the old sound musicals. Yeah. I think it's like the Red Bull shit. Yeah, so yeah, yeah. And they have lovely parks. I mean, it's it was nice. Don't get me wrong. And I think we should do a podcast in Nuremberg in the next year.
Speaker 5Well, yeah, I was gonna say Nuremberg or go out to Borman, Oregon.
Dr. TATYeah. I mean, yeah, like I if the momentum continues with Germany, we could certainly do like an Oktoberfest type episode in August. There we go.
Speaker 5You could be the f you could be the first podcast ever recorded in Bordman, Oregon.
Dr. TATThat's true. I I doubt that there's any significant podcast from there. So but you truly feel that there is like because for me, the Boardman Oregon person is like the Yeti, or you know, it it's some mythical creature in my mind. Yeah, I mean I I'm viewing this as like some kind of legendary character in Boardman Oregon, and it kind of gives me like extra motivation, you know, to well the fact that it's the middle of nowhere, Oregon means it actually could be big fun. Yeah, it could be.
Speaker 5I mean basically big fun.
Dr. TATLike if let like how cool would that be if like and we're not like trying to stage anything here, like if it happens, like I swear, you know, like what if like the Borman Oregon person did reach out and say, like, hey, like I exist this episode, like change my life or something, you know, or this popcast. I mean, it would be kind of cool, and I it would I I think it'd be kind of weird.
Speaker 5Oh, unless it's like D V Cooper and is like, you've exposed me, I now have to move.
Dr. TATYeah, I mean that's possible too. I mean, the thing is, Statboy has been in communication with our you know, podcast overlords, and you know, I think the Vietnamese uh VPOP and you know that that theory I think was debunked. I think there was a heavy bot kind of thing going on. But now we feel we feel that most of these are genuine red-blooded humans, right? Yeah, yeah. Wow.
Stat BoyI mean, speaking, yeah. They they keep defending themselves every time I say this is questionable, they keep coming back and saying, No, this is legit. Yeah, and they also said take pride in the fact that you have some international listeners who are like yeah, they like tell us not to be humble about it.
Dr. TATSo yeah, we're just gonna embrace it.
Speaker 5Yeah, I like how the content's how are you saying that people are listening to this podcast? Nobody's listening to this.
Dr. TATYeah, no, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5We swear that people are listening to it.
Dr. TATWell, it's it's the beautiful thing about Seth Podcast is that we are open to all types of fans, whether it's you know, NBA moppers, ball girls, dog, you know, dogs that retrieve tease from the football field, shout out Ripkin. You know, we're we're in we're in that kind of world. And we have a gentleman here and he's wearing the outfit appropriate for this. The World Cup is coming, Dan. Yeah, I was just thinking that. Yeah, and I I mean speaking of Germany, they're one of the you know, they're one of the stronger teams in the tournament.
Speaker 5So Yeah, the US just lost them in a friendly the other day.
Dr. TATUh I think our our wonderful guest here, Turtle, just got to watch one of the teams play recently.
Speaker 5Uh a few nights ago. Oh well, yeah, on TV. And then I I watched the team USA play uh two matches in March down in uh hotlanta.
Dr. TATSo just turtle. What about didn't you watch one of the teams play live the other night? Or no? Not live. Oh yeah, yeah. Oh, so you look correct. See, I I have a post on Turtles. Oh, yeah, it's good to know what Turtles experienced before Turtles. Yeah, yeah, that's cool.
Speaker 5Uh the Ivory Coast had a had a uh friendly like scrimmage against the Philadelphia Union second team.
Dr. TATYeah, and the one of the 48 teams in the World Cup. The Unions? The Ivory Coast. Oh, the Ivory Coast.
Speaker 5Uh Chester, Pennsylvania.
Dr. TATAh, nice. That's uh they they decided to really rough. Who won that game? The Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast, yeah.
Speaker 5Well, they're training in Chester, but they're uh staying in Delaware.
Dr. TATYeah, they have a manual player, they they got some legit players, like I mean some of the topics. Yeah, my dear. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So what all right, in your opinion, you're a man who turtle I mean, this is a big deal, the World Cup. It is a big deal, and it's in our our turf. What is a successful outcome for Team USA, in your opinion? Good question. So Thank you. Yeah. Right now, a that's very like just for folks that don't know, like we let's say so there's a group of there's 12 groups of four team USA is in one of those groups that have 12.
Speaker 5We're in group D uh with Australia, Turkey, and Paraguay. Yeah, Paraguay, very defensive team. Like that's probably gonna be a very low scoring game.
Dr. TATThat's our opening game, right? A low-scoring soccer game?
Speaker 5Yeah, yes.
Dr. TATOh yeah.
Speaker 5Like 0-0 or 1-0. Like if we if if we score a goal, like that'll be uh you know, big. We're not we're not gonna score a second one. Australia, you know, is a uh frequent uh team in the World Cup. They are lower ranked, people but they it's a trap game. That's our second game on the 19th. So people want to be looking past that game. We can't look past Australia, they'll stick up on you. And then Turkey qualified out of Europe, they're a good team. Like that that's probably gonna be our strongest competition. And then after that, there's a round of 32. So the top two teams in each group make it out, and then the top eight third place teams make it out. Yeah, and uh and then we get to the round of 32, when that round of six, so basically to answer your question, I think getting to the round of sixteen is kind of like our baseline.
Dr. TATSo if Oh wow, so you if we don't make it there, that's a huge failure.
Speaker 5I think that if we if we get anything less than round of sixteen failure, round of if we get to round of sixteen, okay, that's how you want to be. I mean, if you make it past the round of sixteen, you're overachieved.
Dr. TATSo what would be the likelihood that we win our group? High?
Speaker 5I think if you asked me in March, I would be like, no, no, no, we're we're we're trash, we're not gonna make it out. But I Pachino had has the team now in the right formation that we're playing very well. We beat Senegal, who is the African champions, and then we played very well against Germany, who's probably one of the top ten teams in the world this past weekend. We lost two to one. But you know, we looked we looked very well. You know, we we attacked them, we made we made the adjustments. So I think we should make it out of our group. The interesting thing there is if we win our group, the prior the my the team we're probably most likely to play is Iran, which is uh interesting.
Dr. TATIs that is that a problem?
Speaker 5Well, you know, there's an ongoing war right now, so it's an added added uh added complexity there, but you know, basically the Iran is like not allowed to like stay overnight in the country, so they have other things going on for them, uh added distractions that which they may affect their play on the field.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah. I mean that game will be cooking with gas for sure if that happens. Okay, so what are the odds? I mean, could we for could we make the final four? Is that even like a is there a chance? Would it would we have to like kill some of the player? Like would most of the star players and the other teams have to you know succumb to an illness or untimely spur demise?
Speaker 5There is always a chance. If we made the semifinals, that would be ridiculously insane. Like the country, like if we if we would make the semifinals, like it would be Earth Shattering in the World.
Dr. TATEarth shattering in the world. Now, if now I guess that kind of answers my next question, which is could we if we won the World Cup, is that like the same odds as the world exploding? Or like where are we what's the what is the chance that USA is holding up the what it what's the trophy they have? Is it a cup? Is it an actual cup?
Speaker 5It's a like a a globe on top of a pendulum type of thing. A pendulum. It's a world cup. It's not a cup, it used to be a cup, it's but now it's like a you know it's a globe, but it look kind of similar to the NBA trophy. How big is it? It's like yay big.
Dr. TATYay big. Turtles showing about the size of a small blender. That's the size of it, right? So why is it so small? The champion of the entire world holds like a blender up and why wait, it's not like the Stanley Cup. USA's plus 5,500. So that's gonna be. If you put $100 down, you get $5,500.
Speaker 5And what's the what's the odds of the world?
Dr. TATI think that's that's a bad I'm gonna take. I actually said I was gonna think they're gonna win, so let's let's do that. So if you put Benjamin down plus $5,500 doesn't sound quite as I mean, you should probably who has the longest odds? I can check. Probably, yeah. Sometimes poly market has better odds than like Fandule for any gamblers out there. You should use Poly Market. It's like a prediction market. But I don't know. Are you plugging our new sponsors? I mean, they're a sponsor. So the longest odds is I guess South Africa's in it. They have so there's there's five country. South Africa's a lot of countries tied for the are the all these countries in it. Just tell me the odds, dad. It's plus 250,000. 2005, wow, you just put a dollar down and you make $100, you make $250k. Yeah, just put it on.
Stat BoyIt's all based on $100. Wow.
Dr. TATSo that's a lot of like it's Cape Verne, Uzbekistan, Australia. Yeah. Panama, Haiti. So that's gonna be Kurako, Jordan, Qatar. What's the furthest we've gotten in the World Cup? It was it 94? So 94, we made the quarters. That's pathetic.
Speaker 5So that's no, but there is the tournament's once every four years, and just like to get that far. As I say, if we made the semis. I think like oh I think it was what I think when we were in like eighth grade.
Dr. TATWe made 2002. We made we I remember we played Germany, I think in the quarters, right? I don't know. I thought it was 94 when we went really far, but Stackwood can look it up for us. I just remember waking up real early to watch a USA versus Germany game. Landon Donovan was playing.
Speaker 5That would have been later on, and then it's probably it may have been around to 16. Oh six or I think it was either like maybe there's two.
Dr. TATNo, it wasn't six. We were we were on senior week. Yeah, it was like 2002. Here's my big question for everyone. At what point do I join the bandwagon? When is it appropriate, Turtle? It sounds like you're telling me round of 16 is when I should get my American bandana on and start jumping up and down. I uh join it now. That's not an option. I'm in fact, we're probably over time for the amount of time I wanted to talk about this, but just give me what date approximately should I hop on the bandwagon?
Speaker 5Like if you make yeah, sweet turtle and by by the beginning of July, you know, order order your your jersey to to arrive beginning of July, because that'll be after the group stage.
Dr. TATI mean, if they make it to the round of 32, I mean, Dr. Tat, you're a guy that appreciates tournaments. Yeah, you're then you're yeah, you're in a round of 32. I mean, that's second round of the March men's. And that puts me in early July is when I have to care about this. And then for how long, like, and then it's just it's it's who would win, right? It's it's a Jerry Pilata type thing, it's one match, you know, and it's just purely it's whoever scores more goals, correct? Well, I mean, Dr. Tat's a football player, you know, and is prominent American football, yeah. Yeah, the better football. Did did you ever play soccer, Dr. Tut? No, I've never touched a soccer ball. I I don't even know what shape or color it is. Yeah, no, I did. I played I played soccer. In fact, I was growing up, I was on the forest green team, was my color. I mean, did you guys have a specific color you remember for your soccer fandom? I was probably eight or nine. I was what you would call a husky size child. What position did you play? Do you remember? I played. I played get in the way of the other kits. I was the butter bean of our defense. You know, I was just a body. And I, you know, I used to play with one of the ice clowns quite regularly. In fact, I might have been on a team with both. Did you play at like eronymous school? That's where I used to play. I played at eronomic school. That was a I think I was on the goal team. That was a great field. I mean, there was very little glass. It was pretty nice. Yeah. We also did Hillcrest, it was another place we played. And for me, I I think in my career, I probably had zero goals scored, which sounds pretty good. And you stopped to like hundreds of goals. Like I probably, yeah, got in the way of dozens of kicks, you know, in my career. But yeah, no, I I did play and uh but very poorly. So I I wasn't kind of built for soccer.
Speaker 5Of like a roller coaster ride of emotions that we could have.
Dr. TATOkay.
Speaker 5So the if the United States finishes third in our group. So like we just totally shit the bit.
Dr. TATOkay.
Speaker 5And everybody's like, oh my God, this is awful. Like this team sucks. And then we'll but we still do good enough to make that top eight.
Dr. TATOkay.
Speaker 5And we hit like we're gonna hit we'll hit either Germany or France in the round of 32. And it's like, oh like what you know, two of the teams that could possibly win this thing. And then we upset. So we go from like lowest to the low to like highest of the high. We win this improbable upset in the round of 32. We'll play either Germany or France, the opposite in Philadelphia on July 4th.
Dr. TATThat sounds that sounds almost, you know, like a movie script. That sounds pretty exciting. Yeah. So so that's what so I should root for a very poor group performance, but good enough to get in, and then a major upset, we take down the frogs, or what are the German, what's the German team called colloquially? Do they have a name? Um mineshaft. The mineshafters or the frogs.
Speaker 5And we I'm not I'm not sure the French's nickname, but I don't think that the frogs, but yeah.
Dr. TATI I call them the frogs. And so if we take down one of those, then we play the opposite one. In Philly on July 4th. Yeah. It's it's interesting because you know the French actually helped us during the revolution. I don't think Germany did anything. Germany supplied uh troops to the British. Oh, okay. Mercenaries. Problematic. Oh, the Hessians, right? Yeah, were they German or were they German? Roman. Yeah, but we had one. But we are German listeners in Nuremberg. I mean, keep listening, we love what's the question? When George Washington met Santa Claus on the Delaware River and then killed a bunch of Hessians, were those Hessians from Germany?
Speaker 5Is that what a Hessian is? Yeah, they're from uh Castle Hesse. I thought they were oh, is that what it is?
Dr. TATI thought there was a country called Hesha that Hesse. Like Hesha's country, yeah. Like Hesha, you know Hessa. Yeah, like Timber. Hesha Hessians are from Hesse. Yeah, you like you better run. We're yelling timber. I'm yelling timber. No, they're not yelling that. They're yelling something else. Yeah.
Speaker 5We just lost all of our German listeners.
Dr. TATBut but that's kind of crazy when you think about it, right? Like we could be pretty much in the same area where this dude, George Washington, crossed that river. We'd be adjacent to that river and we would be playing against the ancestors of all those Hessians that we killed.
Speaker 4Yeah.
Dr. TATHmm. Yeah. Do you care about the Hessian story or no? I'm just trying, I mean, I just want to tell our German listeners that we loved him so much. So worried about Dan's like, Jim, we're gonna have a nice Oktoberfest in Boardman or anything. Jim, you're gonna get you're gonna alienate the dozen people who listen to us. And I now uh Castle Hessian, we have to figure out where it is.
Speaker 5It's in it's in Germany. I I don't want to get into the tragedy, which is the Hessians.
Dr. TATDid you think that was fair the way we treated the Hessians? We did we kind of like attacked them on Christmas night, right?
Speaker 5Oh, it's it it it's awful because like the small German principalities, yeah, like they're just they're very small, so they don't have a lot of like agriculture or minerals or anything like that. So what they like their main export was humans was just renting their army out to like England, yeah. And and then they'd also those England would give them a whole bunch of money and they would try to pocket as much of the money they can, so they'd send these like young men off to die, and instead of giving them like good food, they'd give them like the cheap food and stuff like that. So these are the people that were held up in New Jersey that George, you know, finally getting their you know Christmas beer, like all right, I'm gonna go to that George Washington just snug up on slaughter on Christmas.
Dr. TATI mean, I mean, I mean, what a great summary. I mean, think about this. We were like the guys who were just cherry like could you imagine being a dude in Hesha, right? You're chilling in Hesha and you're like, boy, look at this barren land as I sip on you know my gruel and and you know, I look at that one little piece of wheat, and then someone grabs you and he's like, Hey, Hans, you have to go to the future New Jersey and you have to go sit there for the British, and you're like, All right, fine, you know, how much money do I make? You don't make any money, and we're gonna probably make your wife and children work extra hard. You're like, all right, sounds good. You go to New Jersey and you're sitting by the Delaware Bay and Delaware River, and then you're like celebrating, you know, a holiday. That's like kind of hands off, and then this giant, what, six two redhead with rabbit teeth like charges at you and then and then kills you in the middle of the night?
Speaker 5I mean that that's basic that's basically what happened, yes.
Dr. TATSo that's that's a bad way to go out. So I feel like there's some bad blood we could stir up here if the mineshafts are against the American. What's our what's our team name? We're the Yanks. We're the Yanks. Okay. So if a Yank takes on a mineshaft, how do you feel about that? How comfortable do you feel about that, Stat Boy? Mine shaft. Stat boy's still here, folks. I'm stating. So if you if you were up against a Yank or a Mineshaft, what would you want to take on?
Stat BoyI think I think I'll take on the mine shaft.
Dr. TATWhat is a mineshaft? That is a word for mineshaft too as well. And then I'm thinking of Minesweeper, the computer game, right? Oh, that's a great game. Yeah, yeah. Actually, I don't know.
Stat BoyOr Minecraft. Did you ever complete a game? It's Minesweeper. That's back in 95 Windows 95 days. Yeah.
Dr. TATIf you're playing the current generation of video games, doesn't mind Minesweeper feels like a game Germans would love to. I don't know about Hessians, but Germans. It's detecting bombs. Yeah. Bomb detector. It's kind of a methodical game. It's kind of weird. One day, so can I just worry? Yeah, one day, yeah, please. We went I think we want to get off this Hessian topic. Dan's very worried about our standard. Turtle and I went to Ireland for a Penn State football game back years ago. And we went to the first city we flew into was Shannon, Ireland. But then we drove to Galway, Ireland. And it's a great city. And our our first night we were like, all right. And Computer Scout was there and we were like figuring out what to do. And shout out. It was a cool concept. Like the the hostel that we stayed at basically said, hey, like we know you guys have no idea what you're gonna do tonight. So like they just set like a bar tour. Like they were basically like, we're gonna congregate anyone staying here and have a bar tour of whoever wants to join, you know? And they were like, it was actually like a really interesting learning experience because like we were from USA and then there were folks from Germany, Sweden, France, and like I just remember like we were very we were like having great camaraderie with the Germans in that group. Oh yeah, why was that? They were just like really cool and like down to party. Like I remember they were critiquing the Irish Sinks, like the faucets, and they were like, This is like not the best engineering, and I just thought that was really funny, and you know, I was like, okay, I agree, you know, you know, I think it was just funny, but uh it was a yeah, it was a cool experience with like I that's probably the only time I ever spent like close time with German, you know, foreign people, and that was fun. That's that's well, German living people, I should say. So they criticized the faucet, but did they offer any kind of solution, or was it just merely like, hey, we're we live, like this is just not that wouldn't be acceptable. I think they just like like we were all like having a fun time on this bar tour, and they basically said, Hey, like that faucet could probably be engineered by me. Like, we're not we're on this bar tour, so we're not gonna do it. I can't think of a better person to share a beer with than the guy who's like staring at the faucet and being like, Wow, that thing sucks. That that's a turtle, you remember that part. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5And actually, uh you just reminded me, I need I need to thank you because that both of your crazy college roommate stories both involve me and computer stopping. Yeah, as the common theme.
Dr. TATYeah. So I'm very honored for that, Dan. And I know we're not disclosing much about them, but it it is something that we'll have. I I'm gonna I'll dig that out. The dish roster and the tree. We'll we'll talk offline about the the tree story. There was just some parts of that story that I didn't want to disclose that yeah, I that's why we veered away from it. I'll definitely yank you out of that mind shaft in the future. But yeah, I think I think the World Cup is something that's I'm gonna have to drive through the traffic and I'm gonna find it highly inconvenient. And uh, if we get to the Sweet 16, I'll watch.
Speaker 5Jim, what made you also pay attention to is all the European travelers coming to the United States and just being shocked by what they find. Like, you know, we're talking about on text messages like a German finds Buckeys for the first time, and like, oh my god, what is this gas station? Or like someone was telling me that because they're gonna, you know, 4th of July, like how many Europeans are gonna witness the Nathan's hot dog eating contest for the first time and just be disgusted.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah.
Speaker 5Like, oh, we we we thought the whole joke about you know gluttonous Americans was just a stereotype, but oh my god, this is how they spend their 4th of July.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah, Europeans are weird, I agree. It's it's gonna be it's gonna be except for Nuremberg.
Speaker 5They're great people to Nuremberg.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah, we love the Nurebergs, and I hope that they're not relatives to the Hessians that we killed, and we apologize very much so, right, Dan? Absolutely. We are a pro-Hessian. Are we a pro-Hessian? Podcast. Yeah. Yeah, and therefore we're pro-Hessian. Pro Hill. We're pro-human podcasts. We are a pro-human and horse podcast, that's it. How about oh, the bar the bars in Philadelphia are like staying open late?
Speaker 5Yes, yeah, some will stay up until 4 a.m. Wow. That's kind of interesting.
Dr. TATYeah, you know, I wonder if they're gonna find Monk's Cafe to their liking, because that that was like the most international vibe place. Or are or is Belgium in?
Speaker 5Belgium, yeah.
Dr. TATBelgium is one of the top two. Now, which which countries are gonna be in the Philadelphia area?
Speaker 5France, Brazil, Haiti, Germany, I think, or no? I don't know if uh that I I know Iraq is coming in, Carouso, uh Ivory Coast is I think it has two games here, and this and the and they're based in Chester. Where are these other teams based? Like, where are they staying? All over the country. Oh, okay. So the the hilarious thing is that for some reason England has decided to base themselves in Florida, and now like it's all the players and like the English media are obsessed with like, oh my god, it's so hot and humid in America. Yeah, all our players are gonna die. And it's like, well, if you were this worried about it, why did you base in Florida? Yeah, that's the worst place to be.
Dr. TATYeah, it sounds like a fate worse than hell for them, you know. That's tough.
Speaker 5Yeah, no, now now the joke is like, oh, now we know what happened in Lexing Concord, it was 85 degrees.
Dr. TATYeah, that would do it. How about I have a question for you guys? So if as soon, you know, we'll we're we all love America. Obviously, like we're you know, it's the 250th celebration, it's exciting, but we assuming America doesn't win the tournament, who would you which country would you root for in the World Cup? And if you know if you don't know, that's fine too. We have it sounds like financially I should root for Australia because I'll put some money on them and make 250 grand. But if I if I didn't have Australia is in the hunt, I would like to root for the funniest team to win. Who would be the funniest possible team to win? Curacao? That'd be kind of cool. Curaçao, yeah, it's pretty cool. Why funny?
Speaker 5They're a small island country that like is playing there at the first time.
Dr. TATIs it funny to you? That is funny to me. Yeah, is that funny to you? I guess it is now. Yeah. I know I I guess I don't know.
Speaker 5Argentina with Messi is is always interesting. France, I think I think France is a good team this year. Who should win it?
Dr. TATI mean, Spain and France are the first. Spain and France were favorite. Spain's the favorite.
Speaker 5Basically anybody but England.
Dr. TATSpain, France, England, Portugal, Portugal. Which was which country was the one where the dude headbutted them and ruined the entire done. Then that's France. That was France. Okay. I know who I that was like the least French thing to ever happen, and then that happened. That was wild. Yeah. Yeah.
Stat BoyYeah. Well, you know, I want it. I want the US, obviously, but if I have to exclude them. Yeah. I mean, if we're going purely on funniest, like Dr. Ted, I'm I'm choosing New Zealand. That would be pretty sweet. I mean, play the Concords. If you I don't know if any of my listeners have to do that.
Dr. TATSo they're one of the 250,000 odds teams. What I like about what I like about New Zealand is there's more sheep in New Zealand than people. That's so that's that's funny. So like all the sheep should celebrate watching the humans win.
Speaker 5Jim, didn't you say last week you wanted Uruguay to win?
Dr. TATI that's it, the team I think is going to win. But the team I'm rooting for is now New Zealand. I'm on board. What what group are they in? In fact, I'm gonna watch I'm gonna watch a New Zealand game. I might buy a New Zealand jersey. Do you think I can get one?
Speaker 5Actually, if if you're going with teams that you should look for and you probably enjoyed Jim, Norway.
Dr. TATWhat why would I like Norway?
Speaker 5Well, Norway's got this guy, uh Erlin Holland. He's a big blonde guy, but they're really leaning heavy into the Viking uh trope. So they had like a entire team photo where they all dressed up like Vikings, which is really cool. They just did one where they had like the the you know, I said the Norway flag has got like a cross on it, yeah, like a blue cross on a white field, and they had them all line up so that all the crosses were like meaning to each other. So that that was a real cool one. And it's a jersey-wise, that's that's a cool jersey. Okay, okay, I'm gonna go.
Stat BoyI'm recommending Norway out for you. New Zealand's in group G. Group G, which is played with Belgium, Egypt, Iran. Oh, so that's gonna be in Mexico, right?
Dr. TATThey'll they're gonna play in Mexico. They might play Mexico, I'm not sure where the what group G is. Yeah. I mean, Belgium's yeah, I I feel like New Zealand can get third in that division. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I think I think I'm gonna root for New Zealand, is my team. And then I think Uruguay is gonna win it all, but New Zealand is who I want to win it all.
Speaker 5Uh I will also say, uh, just give a plug to watch Mexico's game uh tomorrow, or whenever this comes out on the Thursday, yeah, yeah. So Mexico is opened up at home at Azteca, which is the big stadium in Mexico City that I went to a couple years ago. Yeah. That that place is gonna be insane for that.
Dr. TATThat's the first, that's the first one.
Speaker 5Yes, that's the first opening game.
Dr. TATAnd who's Panda? Who do you got? Who do you want to win and who you think will win? I mean, I I think Spain will win. I know they're the front runner, but I just I mean, I yeah, a lot of respect for the La Liga and Real Madrid and Barcelona and just great soccer. Um but I yeah, I want New Zealand too. Um I'm rooting for New Zealand. You're on the New Zealand. You guys talk about it. You want to be a Kiwi with me, brother? Yeah, yeah. All right, we got our Kiwi point for the set hike kiwi conference. We're a pro New Zealand podcast. I'm committed. I'm in. Yeah. I I'm looking forward to it. How far do you think we're gonna have New Zealand go, Turtle?
Speaker 5They can go round a 32.
Dr. TATAh, nice. I mean, I don't see why good championship, you know. I think we should win it all. Let's let's raise the banner and we'll just have to figure out what what their favorite cheer is, you know. It's probably like go New Zealand go. Is that what you think it is? Yeah, yeah, that'll be great. Is it like I mean, we should probably just touch upon the Eagles too, like if there's anything there.
Speaker 5Well what one one second, Dan. Just as a as a note, if the United States gets second in in our group, we will play the second place team in group G.
Dr. TATWhich could be New Zealand.
Stat BoyCould be New Zealand. Oh wow. I I'm gonna root for it. I'll be so torn, but I'll be it's a winner-winner type deal. Yeah, I mean either way. You know, it's like trying to pick your favorite child. I say tie. Soccer ties a lot, huh?
Speaker 4Uh well, not not on the knockout stage, not on stage to go to PK's. Okay, never mind. Yeah.
Dr. TATYeah, let's briefly touch base with our Philadelphia Eagles. Are they in the World Cup? No. Oh, okay. All right, they're in a mini camp right now, I think. So they had a bunch of like press conferences and all that. So, you know, if folks want to listen, get back in the Eagles mindset. There were good press conferences with you know, Sirianni and Jalen Hurts and a bunch of guys. Jalex Hunt. I didn't even I didn't even listen to all of them yet, but it was it was great to just like like I really enjoy just listening to the players again. And Jalex Hunt, Dallas Goddard, uh, the new Rek Wool in spoke, which was cool to see him. Yeah, you Cam Jerk Cam Juergens kept talking about stem cells. Like it was kind of funny because at one at some point he was just like, I should really bring like a doctor on because I'm probably like butchering whatever I'm saying. Yeah, it sure sounds like it. But yeah, he was pretty, he was definitely stem cell pro you know, he was like, Yeah, like I feel great. Like it was almost like was it like what yeah, like I don't know if it was like legit or whether he was just like you know, drinking the cool weed or whatever. But yeah, I mean that's kind of but it seems like it's working, but but yeah, I mean it's exciting. They yeah, they're they I mean the AJ Brown stuff is crazy. They're any new AJ things come out? No, like Ciriani was kind of taking like a little bit of indirect jabs, I would say. Like he kept saying, like, you know, we're we're focused on players, you know, like we're focused on the team. He kept stressing the team aspect, and and that's true. I mean and it was almost like anytime they would ask about AJ, he's like, listen, like this is a team, and you know, it was kind of like you could tell that he was kind of saying like AJ wasn't for the team, like if you read between the lines, but yeah, I mean, yeah, it's exciting stuff though with the Eagles, you know, and we're we're just ramping up and yeah, they're gonna they're gonna get their break pretty soon, right? Or or when are mandatory OTAs? They're coming up, or is that current right now? Yeah, I mean the official like training camps more like late July, so we're probably a month and a half from that. And there's a break, though. They they break this mini camp and then they go, so probably they'll get a few weeks off. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I heard someone say, I don't know if you could speak to this at all, Dr. Tepp, but it was kind of interesting. Like anyone that's into like conditioning and everything, like say Saquon spoke like a week ago, and he said he said something like a lot of the players come back at this time, like real, like more like bulked up, like they're you could tell they've been hitting the weight room, and that's like kind of where they just want to be bulky. And then during training camp is and everything, it's kind of where they become more lean and like conditioned. And yep. Is that something you experience in your players? Oh yeah. We did it was kind of the same thing. This time of year was when you had to get your your cardio back, but the whole the whole spring you're just lifting like crazy. So and it's kind of it, it's essentially you you're like a block of marble, like Da Vinci, right? And so the you you build the bulk, right? You build up the reserves, and then the the end of OTAs, and for us it was spring ball going into the summer. That's when you were just running and doing the gassers and doing all that stuff, so that by the time you hit the actual camp is when you're you're in decent shape. Like you our conditioning test was always the first day of camp. So that if you failed that, you would have to like remediate to a point that you should be fully conditioned before most of the install. Because camp is essentially just getting your playbook in. That's that's what camp is. And so it's just day after day, every day you're like, all right, we're gonna learn the dive play, we're gonna learn our inside zone, we're gonna learn our outside zone. And then each thing is iterative, so like you just repeat it and and the more advanced stuff comes later on. So yeah, and and that's and so you can't do that until you're cardiovascularly ready. So yeah, conditioning, yeah. I think you're spot on, Dan. I think you you nailed that there.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dr. TATYeah, I I don't want them wasting their time watching, you know, America or France or Spain. I mean, if New Zealand makes a run, we'll let my lotta go ham. But otherwise, they have to lock in. Now, Fangio might go to a World Cup game, and if he does, I I welcome that with open arms. Yeah, yeah. But Italy's not in the World Cup, right?
Speaker 5Italy's not in the World Cup. They picked up the city.
Dr. TATSo Fangio is probably not interested. Ireland's not in it. Well, this is Italy, Italy So they just didn't want let all the I teams in, just Iran and Iraq.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Dr. TATYeah.
Speaker 5To me, I teams it Italy watched out for the second time in a row. They didn't make the World Cup. So Italy isn't like really depressed. Yeah. Turkey, like of, you know, in the Turkey, Turkey's one like got in because Italy didn't.
Dr. TATYeah. How about that? Tough. All right. Well, let's change gears here. Do we have anything we want to read from an electronic mail message? Yeah, Jim, we gotta get to it.
Speaker 5Buy this halftime score in this Knicks game. This I'm I may have to dump these pants. Yeah.
Stat BoyYeah. There's no ventilation. Is there a zipper you can unzip?
Speaker 5Uh yeah, the Knicks dowing. Okay.
Dr. TATNo, the Knickerbock. I got him the cheapest, crappiest pair of Knickerbockers I could find. No, no zippers, no belt, nothing.
Stat BoyOkay. We got a trivia question here. Oh, okay. A couple weeks ago, so we'll get to it now. High trivia question. No, it's from Just Matt, not high trivia. Hi, Just Matt. Yeah. Hi, Just Matt. Hey, Matt. Thank you. This is for the three of you to answer. I have the answers right here. Okay. Okay. Question involves the Eagles, and it asked who scored the first T D in the last few seasons of the Eagles? So from season twenty twenty one through twenty twenty five, who scored the first touchdown each season of those years.
Dr. TATSo I remember let's start, let's start. From what you want to do 2021? 21 was is that Siriani's first year, I assume. I I I think I like very much remember that.
Stat BoyShould I give you I should I give you a clue as far as who they were playing? No, it's like you read the email.
Speaker 5Is it a different person each each each uh each year? No, I'm not gonna answer that. No.
Dr. TATI'll start it. Like I just remember Sirianni and Steph, but correct me if I'm wrong, but it was an away game at Atlanta. Cool. Um and I remember like everyone was like, what is this Siriane offense? Shane Steichen, Jaden Hearth, blah blah blah. So who scored the first Devontae? Devante Singding. Yeah, yeah. There you go. I remember it being like this guy is the real deal. How about 2022? So let's think. So that was probably against either the Lions or the Patriots? Because I remember those are both away. I think it was the Patriots in 22. Dan had it. It was the Lions. Oh, it's the Lions. And that was like a high scoring game. I would say Jalen Hurts, but I what do you say? I don't remember. It was against the Lions in 2022. It was probably I mean, that was probably AJ's first year, too. Yeah. I think it was who was the starting running back that year.
Panda DanSanders?
Dr. TATYeah, was it Miles Sanders? No.
Stat BoyI'm saying guess Jalen Hurts. Okay, it was Jalen Hurts. And I would have I actually know this because that was the year I had him as a fantasy keeper. And he scored the tush push for that play in the very beginning of the like the first. That was one of the first tush pushes. Yeah. Yeah. It was like I think it was one of the first touchdowns of the NFL season as well. It was like really early. Maybe not, but it was a crazy Sunday.
Dr. TATWasn't it like 38, 35? Yeah, it was a big game.
Stat BoyEveryone thought we were gonna roll them. And it was like, hey, they're not that bad.
Dr. TATYeah, they're actually like a good team. Yeah. So she enjoyed that one. 2023. Patriots. It was away at the Patriots, or I it says verse Patriots. It was a rainy game away. It was a rainy game in Foxboro in 2023. That was also a close game. That was a very uncomfortable Patriots. Now they they scored a pick six that game, but I don't think that was the first score. I can't remember. Yeah, I'm thinking it was like a freak first score. I think it was Jalen Hurts again. Yeah, I would go Hurts. Was it Hurts?
Stat BoyNo. Jim was on the right track. It was Slay.
Dr. TATOh, so it was Darius Slay's pick six. Yeah, you go. Yeah, he had a pick six. All right. And they won that game. They did win this game. I mean, the interesting consistency here is they've won all three so far. They beat Falcons. The opening year hot. Sirianni's undefeated. 24, we were at Dr. Tat's beautiful. Brazil. Brazil against the Saquon Barkley with the wheel. Saquon's with the RC. Yeah. Saquon Barkley scored on a wheel route. It was a reception. It was a wheel route. He passed it to him. Yes, it was. Yeah. That was a really good game for him, right?
Stat BoyThree touchdowns. Yeah, ton of touchdowns. Everyone's like, oh, this is going to be a great game. I remember right after that.
Dr. TATRight after that game, I said we're winning the Super Bowl. Yep. I didn't know. And then last year was Cow Home against the Cowboys, Spitgate. It was not Jalen Carter. No, because he got kicked out the first time. Immediately. What's his name for the Cowboys scored a bunch? That the running back. He he became like Jabati. I think he had the first touchdown in the game, actually, but the first Eagle score, that might have been Goddard. Was it Goddard? I don't think it was Saquon because he was like struggling. I would say either Goddard or Hertz. Yeah, those two.
Stat BoyIt was Hurts. I don't know. I don't recall what it was, but I'm sure it was some type of I think it wasn't a touch push. I think it was something different.
Dr. TATThat's some good trivia.
Stat BoyYeah, Jalen twice in a couple of past seasons.
Speaker 5Last night I met a couple who are over here from Scotland, because Scotland's playing in Foxborough. So what they decided to do to save money is they're spending the next 10 nights, 10 nights in Providence, Rhode Island.
Dr. TATNo, it sounds like a fate worse than death.
Speaker 5I was like, oh, okay. What are you gonna do there?
Dr. TATAnd they're like, uh we don't know.
Stat BoyWe're just in trouble. Save a lot of money. All right, we got another one. Who wants who wants in? Yeah, let's do it. You go to another trivia question? No, we're done with that one. Okay. That one signed off by saying that he enjoyed our crossover with golf 215. Oh, thanks, Jess Matt.
Dr. TATYeah, thanks, Jess Matt.
Stat BoyAll right. This one's from our good old pal Computer Scott. Yeah, I haven't heard from his computer in a while. Yeah. There it is. HFM, you know, uh survivor. Yeah. Never forget. The uh the subject line here is spelling bee question mark.
Panda DanOh god.
Stat BoyHere we go. All right, here we go. It says, hello, Lady Pants, Big Red and Monster Dome. Hi, hi. Hey. It says, I was surprised that you didn't bring up one of Dr. Tat's favorite sporting events, the Scripps National Spelling Beat, which was completed last week, i.e., two weeks ago.
Dr. TATWe were we were too busy talking about. I know. How do we miss the spelling beat? We were so focused on Jerry Pilato. Listen, remember, everyone go visit skullsunlimited.com. Yeah, yeah. Dr. Crab is always very good at spelling beads back at St. Dot's, I do remember. Let's see if it happens.
Speaker 5If you're looking to purchase a child skull, real child skull for an alarming low amount of money.
Dr. TATC-R-A-N-I-U-M. Yeah.
Stat BoyYeah. So here it goes. It says we get a lot, we get to hear a lot of you guys talk about sports, but I thought it would be fun. Spelling is a sport, by the way. We all acknowledge that.
Dr. TATNo. No. Spelling is a sport. It's not a sport.
Stat BoyWhat defines a sport? It's a competition. It's a coordination aspect, a physical coordination of something.
Dr. TATYou don't think there's physical things happening when you're figuring out the order of letters in your brain? No. It's mental. I love sports. You could do that. It's probably not a sport.
Stat BoyYou could probably spell. I mean, the only thing you need to be able to do is speak the words, right? So you have to be able to like move your mouth to say the words. That's like the physical only physical piece.
Dr. TATI can't do that. That's like saying like boxing is a sport.
Stat BoyYeah.
Dr. TATIt's not a sport.
Stat BoyI think, I think uh well, are we podcasting a sport?
Dr. TATYou know, we're gonna we're gonna have to I'm gonna table is spelling be a sport just so we can get through the email.
Stat BoyBut yeah, we will get back to a five-hour episode.
Dr. TATYeah.
Stat BoySo he said he thought it would be fun to hear you guys compete on the show. All right. All right. So we got our buddy here, Turtle. So we have an entry part of this email that involves turtle. And he says, assuming if turtle's here, oh god, yeah, you get to go first here. Wow, he put that in the email? Oh, he said, yeah. Assuming Turtle's there.
Speaker 5He knows I can't spell, too, which is awful.
Stat BoyWell, here we go. Glad you said it. Aren't you happy your real name is not disclosed here? I know, yeah. All right. So just it looks like he's kind of have a setup for this. So he's gonna be able to give us this the word. He has the language of origin, and then he also has a definition for you here. So like a proper spelling base. Well, you have to give the words. You don't have to ask for it. These are the things you'll get. So, turtle, your word is tortoise. Okay, here we go. Tortoise. The language of origin is Latin. And the definition here is a land dwelling plant-eating reptile of the order Testudines, known for its heavy, dome-shaped cell cell and exceptionally slow, deliberate movements. And then the sentence that goes along with this is the tortoise is known to get very angry if it don't get if it you don't provide it with its sweet and sour sauce.
Speaker 5Spelling bees growing up are always very traumatic for me. But I'm gonna go with uh Tortoise. T-O-R. Tortoise. I O S E.
Dr. TATDoes that mean that go to bed? It's incorrect. You forgot the second T and then there's a T T-O-R-T. I didn't hear it. He might have stumbled over the. So turtle's out. I think tortoise. Dan, do you know how to spell tortoise? Close.
Speaker 5I I had the second T.
Dr. TATIs it is that the I said so like is this the way this should go? Should I try? Yeah. Huh? Do I try to spell it? No, it's just turtles. I mean, let me try. So let me go.
Stat BoyLet's let Dan spell turt tortoise. T-O-R-T-O-I-S-E.
Dr. TATYay. Correct. Oh, I flipped that. That is correct. That is that second T. It's kind of important. Yeah. All right. He said T-O-R-T, but then he went what? I he went like Tor T-O-C.
Speaker 5I went I O.
Dr. TATIt's a delicious.
Stat BoyHis phonetic spelling is Tor Dust. He O-R-T-I-S. Yeah. It's an interesting way of saying that. All right, Panda, you're next. Panda Dan. T A N D A. Nice. Done. All right. Yeah, you're all the animal stones. All right. So Panda Dan's word is E Saint Laurent. Laurent? E Saint Laurent. Language of origin. Wow. That's special. It's France. Or for great cologne slash perfume. Yeah. The definition. A deceased French fashion designer who founded his eponymous fashion label in 1962. He says here is wherever I go to Macy's. Oh, really? I gotta know what it smells like, so I know who that person is. Yeah, I it's it's McGurk. Yeah, smell. Yeah. Exotic fans. And the provided sentence is wherever I go to Macy's for Thanksgiving, I like to pick up a bottle of cologne by E San Laurent. For my Eagles game day stash in my Jeep.
Dr. TATAlright. It's kind of all right. This is a hard question. I'm gonna go Y V E S. And then I don't know if that's right. And then I'm gonna go say whether you have to spell the whole thing. S-T or S-I S-A-I-N-T, excuse me. And then L-A-U-R-A-N-T.
Stat BoyE-N-T? No, you kind of changed it up multiple times.
Speaker 5Is Jimmy an opportunity to do it?
Stat BoyR-N-T for the final piece of the case. But I think you had to Y the Eve was where there's a secret V in there right there. It's Y V E S. Yeah, you said I said that. Oh, I missed that. I thought I just said Y-E-S.
Dr. TATIt's fun when you're spelling the leader doesn't listen to the letters you say. Y B E S S T.
Stat BoyThere's three words here.
Dr. TATYou spell like three. It depends. That was a hard one. So I was I screwed up the Laurel. What was it again? The L-A-U R E N T. R-E-N-T. You said A-N-T. Yeah. Oh, it was R-E-N-T.
Stat BoyYeah. All right. All right. There's a message here. It says stat boy word and it says no cheating. I gotta pass a laptop. So I'm gonna rotate the screen here and just go. How do I give you all right? Stat boys word. Hold on, I gotta move this over and and roll it down for you.
Dr. TATI mean, that's a yours was a proper noun. That's not technically legal in for spelling B lore. Alright. Can I look or no? We'll just like the turtle.
Speaker 5Yeah, you're gonna have to look because I can't pronounce that word.
Dr. TATOkay, so stat boys were.
Speaker 5There's a phonetic thing that's stat boy.
Dr. TATYour word is heteroskodasticity. And it says it right here, phonetic. Yeah. Hetero schedasticity. The language of origin is Greek. Uh-huh. The definition, a situation in statistics where the variability of the error terms, parentheses or residuals, end parentheses, across the data is unequal or non-constant. If you plot the data points on a graph, the spread of the points becomes wider and narrower as the value of the independent variable changes. Sentence. When plotted on a graph across time, Kenny Britt's career production is noted for its hetero schedacity. Excuse me. Excuse me. Let me say it one more time. Hetero schedasticity. Oh, skinny marinky dinky-doo. And it's Greek, so you should know this. Hetero schedasticity.
Stat BoyThis word is used quite often throughout the entire realm of statistics. So I mean very, very familiar. I'm I'm as familiar with it. I'll do it backwards.
Dr. TATI would like for you to just spell the word.
Speaker 2Y T I C I T S A D E C S O R E T E H. Correct.
Dr. TATYes. You spelled it TISTIT.
Speaker 5Do you have it up on the other screen?
Dr. TATWow. That was great. I thought it was like a Greek God.
Speaker 5You cheater.
Dr. TATYeah, congratulations. That's a really hard. That's a really hard word to spell.
Stat BoyI can't believe I did that. Hetero is scadactive. It's uh it's used quite often.
Dr. TATYeah, with the the mirror sheet. It's when you're skedaddics or hetero that you have that problem. Right. Right? Yeah. Hetero meaning different than homo being the same.
Speaker 5Very impressive too. I like how Scott gave it to you.
Dr. TATBecause when you're homo schedasticity, you're looking at someone like Devontae Smith, who's got a little bit more normative values within a certain plot point.
Stat BoyOh, okay. Well, we're getting to the end of this beautiful email. Final word here is tats. Oh boy. All right. The word is oh my god. It's borberigmy. Borberygmi? Borbarygmy. B-O-R-B-O-R-Y-G-M-I. Yes. Very good.
Panda DanLanguage of origin.
Stat BoyGreat. Definition. The medical term for a rumbling, growling, and grumbling sound. Yeah, it's a good idea. Yeah, borberygmy. Yeah, what was the hell is that? The sentence that's provided. When I see the commercial for simple rips, simple wafers, w wafer cookie, I start to hear intense bulebarygmy from my stomach. I think it's a reaction initiated from my mind, which struggling to impute the rectangular, not round shape of this cookie. That's beautiful.
Speaker 5I love how Scott probably put like a good like 45 minutes researching this, and Jim was like, Oh yeah, I didn't spend every day.
Dr. TATLet me say that was one of the most enjoyable impromptu spelling bees I've had in a in about three days. I mean, that was sweating here, man. Yeah, that was fantastic. That was great. I'll tell you, I that was that was enjoyable. You know what? The next time we have Computer Scott on, we're definitely gonna have another spelling bee. I think a live spelling bee would be quite a joy. Yes. Yeah, he he was a live in-person guest for this, just like Turtle, and yeah, it'd be great to have him on again.
Stat BoyAs opposed to being on a live and on as a guest.
Dr. TATYeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5A dead in-person guest.
Dr. TATYeah. What a what a wonderful email. Thank you. So let's review what we got right, what we got wrong. Did we get anything right wrong?
Stat BoyThe whole podcast is incorrect. I'll fix that now, though. All right. Oh, we talked a little bit about the Sixers and the Superfan deal. Well, the dude on the sideline's name is Alan Horssewitz. Horsewits? Horsewits.
Dr. TATSpell that. H-O-R-S-O-W-I-T-Z. Not Horsewits. It's Orwitz. Horwits.
Stat BoyHorswitz. Horswit. He's actually a seasoned ticket holder for 50 years. Wow. So that's pretty crazy. The sixth man, they call him. Yeah. He founded the campus apartments in Philadelphia, and he actually did have eye surgery back in the end of April, it looks like. And he was quoted that he said, uh, I had an eye surgery, so I was forced to wear glasses. Sorry if you didn't like my drip. Yeah. So that's kind of saying some cool stuff.
Dr. TATYeah, he probably had some S T R A, B-I-S, M-U-S, you know.
Stat BoyExactly. Uh, we talked about what's the Delco of Norway. We probably thought about that earlier in the year. We actually did not define what the Delco of Norway is. We talked about Oz being the capital. We're going, this is way back to episode 15. We talked for the diehards. Yeah. So we don't have yet uh a Delco of Norway, nor do we have a listener from Norway yet.
Dr. TATSo if if there's anybody in Norway that would like to be the first, and they could identify themselves as the Delco native of Norway. Yeah. Exactly. Norway is one of the countries that Epcot at Disney World. I thought that's kind of interesting. The Viking ride's quite enjoyable. Yeah. Frozen right. It's frozen right now. It used to be just like generic Viking. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Ice down Pete's going absolutely nuts right now. Shout out.
Stat BoyReal quick, do some World Cup stop, real quick. Of all the years of World Cup, there's been 84 unique historical participating nations, so 84 total. Of those 84, we talked about how the US was like the best they've ever gone was the quarterfinals. Of those 84, 54 of them have reached the quarterfinals or further, right? So a good chunk of them have gone further than the quarterfinals, uh, but not all. And then there's only been actually eight unique winners over the entire history here. Wow. And we're looking at Uruguay, Italy, Germany. Germany is also Western Germany is considered part of Germany. Brazil, England. The Hessian side. Yep. Brazil, England, Argentina, France, and Spain. So if you want to find someone to bet on, odds are one of those eight are probably the winner. Yeah. There you go. And then some interesting, just curious fats in general. We talked a little bit about mascots and dogs earlier. Well, there was a dog fact here in 1966. The original World Cup was actually stolen in London. And apparently it was found by a black and white mongrel dog named Pickles. It was apparently under a hedge. Shout out to Pickles. He became an overnight hero there for them when they found it. And then further down the line, it was stolen again in '83 in Rio Digne Air. And that was never recovered, actually.
Dr. TATPickles didn't find the other one?
Stat BoyPickles did not find it.
Speaker 5No, they they they lost them. I think someone melted it down for the goal.
Stat BoyYeah, they think they get they did that. Then we're talking about some interesting efficiencies. So Spain won a first cup or won a first World Cup in two and twenty ten by only scoring eight goals across all seven matches. How very boring. Wow. Yeah. That's a pretty impressive. You didn't score one one or nothing. That's just great defense, yeah. Uh the fastest goal ever scored in World Cup history was by Turkey Guy in 20 in eight seconds. So too, in 11 seconds. Oh, I was close. Yeah. And then in the knockout rounds for goals, uh, Christian Ronaldo, how many do you think he's had? Eight in the knockout rounds. He's played in five different World Cups.
Speaker 5Just in the knockout round? Eight. I think eight's a good guess, to be honest.
Dr. TATUh five. I'll go nine.
unknownFive.
Dr. TATHe's played five. Did penalty kicks count? He definitely has a penalty.
Stat BoyEight zero. He's never scored a single goal in a World Cup knockout.
Dr. TATWell, he's not that good. So yeah. Not surprising. Yeah.
Stat BoyAnd then one other really quick news breaking news. Boom. Going back in our golf realm. So over the weekend in Rolling Green Golf Club, there was a 17-year-old named Ryan Winchester who did something historic. Arwin? He's hit two hole in ones in the same round. Oh wow. Whoa. Statistically, that by the PGA standards was expected to only happen once in every 600 years. Which is one in 20 million. Wow.
Speaker 5Has it ever been done before?
Stat BoyThat's something also. So it has been done before. So this is where statistics lie, right? So you would think that we would never see that in our lifetime ever. Well, it's happened three times already. This happened three times with pro golfers, though, right? It's only happened with three pro golfers. So this 17-year-old did it at Rolling Green. And there's a when you win, when you do it at Rolling Green, they give you some award money. They give you $300 to the Pro Shop and they give them $700 to the bar. So you had $14. Yeah, because you have to buy a drink for everybody when you but he's 17. So he's for everybody. And he's done it. He did it twice in the same round, so he doubled that. So he got $600 to the Pro Shop and $1,400. So if you were at no he couldn't use it at the bar.
Dr. TATSo if you were there, you got two free drinks. Well, if you were just there for an awesome day.
Speaker 5Well, here's the question. Do you get to like keep the gift card for like can you keep it for the case?
Stat BoyYeah, I think he's gonna have to hold on to it for a year. Yeah.
Speaker 5And then come back in like four years and a couple years.
Stat BoyYeah. Yeah. 21. All right, that's all I got.
Dr. TATThat was fantastic. That would have been the best ever. That was such a strong statistical. I mean, that was like a one in 27. That was like a better performistic or one in twenty-seven year. Yeah, the heterosedasticity of that was uh fantastic. Let me just say, what a very exciting time. And perhaps the most boring part of the year, I got to listen to 23 odd minutes of Turtle explaining countries to me. And I can't think of a better way to spend my time. Yeah. Um, one one last fact about the World Cup. It looks like, which I was reading. I need one more. Yeah. Like I was curious to see like whether countries have consecutively won the World Cup, and that hasn't happened since 1958 and 1962 with Brazil. So, like, you know, if you're a betting person, like Argentina, 2022. Was that was that during the pay Peg leg era? Like it seems like Argentina. Oh, yeah. What's the thing you get? The balloon ore Ballon d'Or. The Ballendorf. Yeah. Yeah. So who's gonna yeah, we'll see who wins the Ballon or Argentina repeat and break that street? That would be great. And final messy go out in the glory. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm just so very excited for this time of year. The spring and the spring, we're into the summer. Everyone take a World Cup team to root for. Take a country to root for New Zealand. We pick New Zealand. That's ours. Don't use New Zealand to shout out to our boardman Oregon guy. I hope he's watching and I hope he's doing well. Yeah, I think I think we burned that bridge with anti-hesion anti-hessian move, but it is what it is. So yeah, for the Seth podcast, I'm Dr. Ted. And I'm in Stephen Let's go. U S-A. U S A. You know what I can spell? United States of America. U S A. We don't care what Rory McElroy has to say. He can take a long walk on the short bridge if you know what I'm talking about. He could go bless some hearts. Bless your heart, Rory McElroy. Go Kiwis. I'm sorry for the Hessians. And let's have a wonderful World Cup. Yeah. Go birds. See ya.
