Yeah. 28th episode. I I think the studio sounds crisp tonight. Yeah, what did you do? I don't I think I got new soundboards in here. Do you add a few cobwebs or something? Uh really though. Or an Aneco chamber right now. Yeah, the acoustics are just pre-housed. Yeah, I mean an orchestra could play in here right now, and it would be it would sound like that. Do you think it's just like not having Turtle, you know, kind of moaning into the mic talking about Jalen Brunson for 40 minutes?

As a Syracuse and Sixers fan, being inundated with you know the t-shirt that says Nick's in V for five, Roman umwell, and the Villanova V. I mean, uh I'm partially gagging you know, discussing this. I can't even I can't even speak. Yeah. Yeah, I think the parade is in New York City. Oh, you see it's in New York City on Where would it else be? I think it's in New York City. No, it's on Thursday, is what I was gonna say. I don't know where. And I I asked someone if it's in like Fifth Avenue in New York City. That's like I think that's one of the more famous streets there, but I don't know where exactly it is there. Maybe Stepway could look it up. But that's gonna be a waste of his time. Um so yeah, we're we're beyond that, we're past that. Now we're thinking about the World Cup. Yeah, so I mean, speaking of Turtle, yeah, he was I actually did see him on Friday night for his big event there. He he had some kind of event. Yeah, we won't say where, but when does the World Cup start? Hello? Yeah, you wanna watch New Zealand? When did the World Cup start? It started last Thursday. Oh how how are we doing? Did we win? Uh yeah. So you uh so well by we do you mean New Zealand or US? Uh yes. Or both. Yeah. So we both we won both. Oh no, New Zealand, the Kiwis tied. Yeah, yeah. The Kiwis tied uh against I believe Iran. Okay. They weren't the favorites in that game, right? So that's a big upset. So that's a win. Yeah, that was a win for New Zealand. So from our standpoint, we're up big. Yeah, U.S. is up big. We're up. We beat Paraguay, which is not the Gway I was supporting for making the run. It's Uruguay was the one that I said would be a bit of a dark horse, but I think we beat the pants off of him, huh, Panda? Yeah, so the striker Bowagan, I believe his name is Turtle yell at me if I'm wrong, but he had two goals, the the young striker for America. And he I know he plays for Monaco in the French league, which is a very well respected league. Yeah. Do you know like the I wasn't planning to talk about this, but like like I always when I look, I love to look at the club teams where these players play. So yeah, like there's to me that there's like rankings out there, but there's like five very respectable countries, club leagues. I don't know if you want to try to name them real quick. Five you're talking about the leagues that the soccer teams play in or the specific teams? The leagues. So like I would say there's five pretty agreed upon. Watch this stat boy. Hold yeah, I'm listening. Hold my T. I'm gonna go with Bundesliga, correct? So the in no word Bundesliga. Yes. The Premier League. The Spanish one. Which is called similar to the one you just the L Premier League. I think it's called the Liga. Okay, so I got the Liga, the Premier, Bundesliga. I'm surprised you got the Bundesliga. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, so I had two hole in ones at Rolling Green golf club. I guess that was now a little bit over a week ago at this point. On on June 7th, the first one happened on the third hole with a 9-9 at 161 yards, and the second one was on the 16th hole, 133 yard pitching wedge. So both were incredible, but the second one was a lot more incredible.

Yeah. No, right, that's awesome. Yeah, thanks for coming on. This is uh Panda Dan. Yeah, that was we we actually mentioned it on our podcast last week, and then through some connections, yeah, we were able to contact you. So we we really appreciate you coming on. Was that like so many questions? Like, was that your first time golfing at Rolling Green? Or were you familiar with the course? Like, just wanted to hear more about that.

Ryan Winchester 9:44

Yeah, so I'm a member there, I've been a member for a few years now, since I believe 2022. So I play there more often than other places, probably get out uh at least once a week. Try to get out more than that, but you know, we'll see. Kind of just how the the schedule dictates. But you know, this year I haven't really d had the opportunity to play as much, just with some personal stuff going on and family stuff. So I've had the opportunity to play a little bit more over the past month, and and the weather to start the spring was a was a little bit rough, especially on the weekends. There's a lot of rain. But now it's kind of we're we're in the full swing of things and the golf course is in is is is in great condition. It's fast, it's windy, which is making things a little bit difficult there. But it's one of the better tests, in my opinion, in the in the greater Philadelphia area. And and I enjoy the golf course a lot. So if you guys haven't played there, yeah, you you gotta you gotta get out. I'm happy to take you out at some point with the folks that that introduced us as well.

That's fantastic. This was your first two hole in one rounds, or have you had it done it before?

No, that was that that's probably that's my first, and I uh I think it's safe to assume it'll be my last uh double hole in one in one round, but I also my first hole-in-one actually was uh a few years ago. Oh wow 2023, almost a year ago, or almost three years ago to the to the day, June, it was June 10th, on the fifth hole. Oh, I'm sorry, on the on the sixth hole at uh at rolling green. So now I have three of the five par threes.

That's I I mean, that's just incredible. You you have to be like the most accomplished rolling green first shot golfers in the history of the course.

Yeah, I I I think there's a gentleman, and I forget who it is, but I think I think somebody has four of the five. I'm sure somebody in the history of the golf course has has five of five, but that that's uh that's kind of the the nest the next uh dream to have over there from a from a hole in one perspective. Just to get all five on the resume.

Wow. Yeah, that's fantastic. I mean, just uh if you could give me just a little bit like what'd you have for breakfast? How was your did you wake up feeling like this is going to be a two-hole in one day, or was it just kind of just all came together?

Speaker 4 12:09

No, actually. It was a it was a bit of a rough morning. I didn't really get too much of a I typically like to get there a little bit early, you know, hit a few balls, kind of walk around, enjoy the atmosphere, especially playing early. It's nice to be at a golf course when at that time of day. But I was a little bit rushed that morning. I don't believe I I had breakfast. I think my our tea time was 8 20 that day and just kind of kind of wung it. And the first hole, I believe I bogeied the first hole, I had a three-cut. The second hole, I I don't know if you listened, I did another podcast, local one, but I I did a I chipped in on the second hole from behind the green for birdie, and then the third hole had a hole in one. So it was just a it was a pretty interesting day in the sense of uh I had three birdies, I had two Eagles, but then I had I don't remember what the scorecard was off the top of my head, but I know I had at least two double bogeys. So it was a it was a very up and up and down day, uh, but there was a lot more ups and downs, to say that.

Wow. That that's awesome. Hey, uh uh Ryan, my name here is uh Stab Boy. I like to go through some just curious information from our stories that we talk about here. But I, you know, a tradition here on our our podcast is we typically like to to give unique scenarios names, names, unique names. So we got a unique scenario here, right? A two-hole, one round, you know. In former podcasts, we have something from a five over five turnover uh play called the the turnover centipede, and then we got something recently where we name multiple groups of animals. So a group of stat boys and then there's a a sweatshop of stat boys. So what would you give a title for two hole and ones in one round? I would love to hear your take on this because we need to know when we when we have another one that comes down the plate.

I I think it's fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. How was how was the rest of your day, Ryan? So did they the the club rowing green golf club, they were they rewarded you in some way after after your Yeah, so we had it was nice, you know.

I walked into the to the clubhouse afterwards. Oh well, to start, after the round was over, I was quite flustered, to be honest, just you know, kind of taking in what had just happened. And you know, that was a bit of a blur. Like going into the pro shop, kind of chatting a little bit. Then I Freddie, who's the pro over at the club, took me out to like take a picture with the scorecard. And the scorecard that I took a picture with, coincidentally, was slight my score was slightly incorrect because my I'm not I wasn't keeping score that day. One of the other playing partners was and marked me down for a score on hole 14 as a bogey, and I doubled it. It took me three to get on, and then I two-putted. So uh the the picture that I took initially with that scorecard that I have on the third hole after the round has me shooting a 71. But truth be told, uh it was actually a 72. And that that was an error on my part, but to be honest, I was I was a little damn flustered after the after the day and wasn't really paying attention too much to to looking at other things on the scorecard in terms of of scores on on what was marked down. But uh, you know, it was uh uh so after that, you know, we walked into the into the clubhouse, into the bar area, and a lot of the other members were standing around and they uh you know gave me a few roars, which was nice.

Yeah, and then we kind of just you know drank a few beers, told a few stories about the day, made some jokes, and hung out for for a few hours, and they sent me home with a with a bottle of champagne, which was really nice. Um and yeah, so I I came home, hung out with my wife, talked about the day, enjoyed it more, told talked to my dad, and talked to my other family members, a buddy that I played high school golf with that I'm still pretty close with that haven't been able to have the opportunity to play with him very much in recent years because he's in Georgia. But the the the nightcap was with a was with a heady topper. Nice and a and a chat with him. So yeah, it was uh it was a it was a hell of a day. Monday was uh was interesting because A, I was a little bit hungover, and B, uh, you know, that I had a bit of a dopamine crash from the day before.

Yeah, I don't blame you. I can imagine. And uh we appreciate your honesty coming back with, you know, we we were worried about the 7172 thing. We wanted you to bring it up, Ryan, to be honest with you. But you know, how is the verification process for these holes in one? Is it is it just kind of a I I'm sure there's some sort of honor code to the whole thing.

No, there's some super technology now in the holes. Is there AI that does the whole thing is there some sort of confetti that comes out of drones going everywhere that track balls and everything?

I'll tell you the ironic thing about the the whole 72-71 thing is you know, I uh I'm not on social media, so I was just sent some of the stuff, and I'm sure you're you're aware of what I'm talking about. Um but like you know, uh my goal in a day that I have a hole in one is to shoot the lowest who are possible. There is no way in in any world that if I would have shot you know a 65, right? Then I would have been happy to do that. But after I checked the scorecard, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna be a guy who marks down a 71 because I took a picture with that card, even though it's incorrect. I shot a 72. I wish it was a 71, I wish it was a 65. But you know, I I don't play for I don't play for handicap. I play to shoot the lowest score possible. I don't really play in handicap events in general, so that's just unfortunate and just uh error in the moment of uh of just a lot of excitement and uh being a little bit flustered.

Well, you know what? I I would like to chime in myself. I I I I'm proud that you came to the the light here with that because I have uh I made a false comment last week that um you revealed that you know you had a nice heady topper afterwards. I I thought you were underage, sir. I I apologize. I thought you were you know you look pretty young in the photo for this to war car photo. So like oh this guy must have been underage. And I heard you you got a bar tab and all that, and I thought, oh man, what's he gonna do with that? So I apologize wrong.

I went into Chamonix High School, but I've been in South Philly now. So shout out. Yeah, it's uh just uh, you know, Roland Green was the the best option that I had to join in terms of proximity and just how good the golf course is when I lived and moved to South Philly. So yeah, it's been it's been a great membership. The folks there are are great and have enjoyed uh being a member there over the past few years. They're doing a lot of a lot of good things that that you know, in terms of the golf course and just the ability to develop them kind of play as many rounds as you want and have a good time and meet new people. Wow.

Yeah, that's all yeah, it's a beautiful golf course. We actually we all grew up like around Delco, like Drexel Hills, Springfield. So we I actually used to go sledding there like in the winter time, like uh when you know, and the golf course was obviously closed, but yeah, it's always been a beautiful golf course. How about like like you've gotten some pretty good press from this? Like I see like when we when we heard about you, like we like I I see that you like Yahoo Sports, Fox 29, Golf Digest, like you kind of became like a celeb, you know, like a mini celebrity overnight. Like, how has have you just kind of like stayed the course and like you know, just not let that affect you, or like have you kind of embraced it or how's that been?

Yeah, I'm not uh I'm not somebody that really likes the the public eye in general. Uh you know what when I when I heard out that Fox is gonna be that one that they wanted to reach out, I didn't go to them with this information. The head pro called me and on Monday afterwards and like hey, you know, Fox reached out. Do you do you mind if I give them your contact information? And I said, you know, I guess so. Why not? I mean they can call me and then they reached out, they're like, Hey, do you want to come up and do an interview? And I'm like, No, I'm all right.

But I I enjoy doing like I'd much rather do this stuff than do more like the national stuff. Like I went on swing it and ding it, and I enjoyed that to kind of chop it and talk like you know, about golf and the the intricies of the day, and you know, more about you know shots you're hitting and things of that nature. But uh, I guess the Fox thing kind of gave me the ability to have you know conversations with folks like yourself.

Yeah, yeah, I saw that podcast. I they're good actually. I I've uh listened to them before. That was cool. We have we actually had a podcast called Goth two one five on. I don't know if you heard about heard of them ever, but they have a good podcast and good merchandise. We had them on before the PGA championship at Eronomic. They're yeah, they were great. But yeah, speaking of that, like I wanna I definitely wanted to ask you about the US Open this week. I'm not sure if you're a big fan of, you know, like the PGA tour, but definitely when they get your opinion. What group are you in, Ryan? When are we expecting you to tee off?

Uh yeah. Oh, but by the way, I'll go back to the you were I forgot I kind of went off on a tangent there, but you'd asked about who saw the whole in ones, right? Oh, right, right.

So obviously the three members, well, I think one of the members that we have a mutual friend that was in the group. So the three three folks that were playing in the group. We also had two caddies. One of the gentlemen that works at Rolling Green saw the first one from a distance. You know, kind of like out if you've been there, you know how close the outside proximity of like the locker room and and stuff is to the third T-box. And then the the second one uh was also seen by another member that his son was giving a lesson at the time. So both were seen by by multiple people. And I I don't have like I was mentioned, don't have Facebook, but or or really any social media, but I did see that uh you can see the comments on Facebook and you know the the trolls and and the haters that live on the internet. I saw a comment like yeah, they're like, you know, I I don't really think that this happened, like prove it. And the dad of the caddy, so shout out to that guy's dad. Was like, my son was in that group, it absolutely happened. I was like, that's right, get him, buddy.

Dude, that's see, that's the thing, Ryan. Especially when you're in Delco, Ryan, there is a provincial support, man. We love who we love and we hate who we hate, and and you're beloved here with this, especially at rolling green. And we hate those trolls. Yeah, no, forget the trolls. But yeah, I would yeah, I think the the final thought I had with that is you know, uh how does it uh how does it feel to do this? I I heard, and and you can confirm this from our connections, you you s you hit two aces with two different golf balls, I heard. Like you actually held on to the one and then hit it with another one?

Yeah, and I not only did it incredible. Not only, well, I was not playing that ball that I hit in, right? So I put that in the bag, but I I like I told you, I was a little bit flustered in the morning time, and I didn't get a new sleeve of golf balls, and I am you know a slightly particular person, and even more so with golf, and I didn't have any more of the golf ball that I typically play in my bag. So I asked Mike, McGowan, I was like, hey man, do you got do you have any extra golf balls in your bag? Like, do you play Pro B1 X? And he gave me Pro B1 X four, and that was the ball that I played from the third hole, or I'm sorry, well, the fourth hole to the 16th hole, and I knocked it in with this ball. It was just I had them actually I have them on my desk right now sitting next to me.

I like to model my play by play from the great Pat Summerall, who I think is one of the best play by plays of all time. He and Madden were awesome. He was just I I think he had some great calls. One of my favorites was he used to write at the very and this is probably the tail end of Pat's career. May his soul rest in peace. Yeah. Panda. I think he's dead.

So Pat Summerall is just a professional. For me, the best play by play. Random off. There's a reason that there's the other person to play by play is the color. So for me, play by play, you just have to you just have to draw the lines. And then the color person, the Madden, the Panda Dan, they have to fill in the the life. So a good play by play is a a narrator, a very straightforward, straight man. Random moss. Random moss. Like all he had to do was say the name of the player, and then I would let panda dan slash Madden really bake in what exactly happened.
