So what I what I want to say, and I think I I thought the communication was clear, but I did get some feedback from the fans that we take 28 days off in the summer. We all do various things. We have a PTO policy here at Seth. Like we have paid time off. We have 28 days of PTO and I we take them consecutively here at the Set Hike podcast. And we always do it in the summer. Yeah. And and we all do different things. So I take a vow of silence, right? I just rest my, you know, these pipes, man, they need cleaning every once in a while. And yeah, we're back. We're back. What did you do for the 28 days? I mean, I don't take a vow of silence. I do talk, but I don't talk to other people. I just talk to myself during that time. So you know, I want to keep the vertical grids going, but but yeah, I just choose to speak to myself during that time. Oh, okay. Good. But I travel the world. Yeah.

No, it's more it's more of a town close to Hershey, and it's uh it's a very nice little whimsical area.

Yeah, you know, you go to mid-PA for the fun and you come home with the measles, you know? It's great. It's a good time. Yeah. So, you know, I think it's important to acknowledge that during this time there's a bit of a void, but nothing really happened sports-wise that I could think of. Yeah, it was slow. I'll be honest with you. This is a pretty dead time in my professional opinion. Did anything happen that you were aware of? Yeah, there was like some stuff. I actually made like a list that I just went because I was like thinking like what should we cover? Oh, yeah, a list of nothing? No, no. I I mean I could go through some of the list if you want. You could, but the first thing I want to talk about is the fact that I was at a pool the other day. And so we at the Seth podcast, we are pool people. Rats. We are some would call us rats. A public pool or a private pool? I went to a public pool. And it is a very in-ground or above ground? It's an in-ground per multi-purpose public pool. I don't know if there is a multi purpose public pool. It's a multipurpose public pool. Are there any public pools that are above ground? That would be kind of weird, you know. That's a great question. An above ground multi-purpose public pool. Multi-purpose public pool? I've never seen one. Yeah. Probably not. So I was at an in-ground, multi-purpose public pool. Was there a diving board? The general vicinity, there is a diving board, there's a lap pool, there is not a slide. But what it does have, and what I did want to bring up is they had two, not just one, but two basketball hoops, nice poolside basketball hoops. And as I'm shooting the shots, I I'd say I was shooting at about 11, 12%. I mean, it was woeful. And I thought to myself, the rim on a basketball pool hoop, the pool basketball in a multi-purpose public pool. Yes, multipurpose public pool. That's a hard shot to make. I mean, I don't know what your guys' thoughts are, but I think that might be a top five. I wanted to go through right now the top five most difficult rims to score on. Oh. Yeah, we could do that. I do have one follow-up question if that's what we're doing. That's what we're here for. At the pool, are the balls the multi-purpose public pool. Yeah, the multi-purpose public pool. Are the basketballs just sitting there like for people to take? Floating. Yeah, floating in the pool. Like, or do you have to like request them at like some kind of desk to some kid at the No, they're they're free-range basketballs and they're aquatic and they they are a very light blue. It's not quite like a tar heel UNC blue. Yeah. It's like slightly more green. In fact, it looks exactly like the color of your trash can, which nobody can see uh right now. Do you see behind you? No, I can't turn it back. Okay, yeah. But yeah, and it's white. It's got the white and then that color right there, which I guess would be like our path and beyond, folks. Yeah. It's kind of like which is out of business, I believe. Yeah, but they still sell online. Online, that's good. I would call it, I don't know, like an off Robin's egg blue, maybe. Yeah. I'm yeah, I'm glad you picked like I like when you have a house, obviously, as you know, like you every decision you make is from your head, right? So like Yeah, that's true. So like at some point in time, I did spend time like picking out that color, and I didn't I wondered if like anyone would notice.

I mean, I'm looking at it now, I turned my head, and it it looks like the bottom of a multi-purpose public pool of the same color as a monkey.

Yeah, and and so the hoop is actually matches the color of the ball. But I found the the rim, the rim was like very challenging, and I think that's intentional because in a multi-purpose public pool, when you're playing basketball, you want more dunks. Like it's the idea is that it's a much more MP cubed, like sometimes people are referring to. The MP cubed. Uh when you're at an MP cubed and you're playing basketball, you know, playing pig at a multi-purpose public pool. I find that it is very enjoyable, but challenging to do the sharpshooter. Yeah. Have you guys had that experience? Well, I'm never a sharpshooter, so no. Yeah, you've always been the grimy under-the-rim guy. I'm a I'm a rebound guy, but so it's perfect for rebounds. It is perfect for rebounds. You know, right my wheel has. I don't I would love to see Steph Curry in a multi-purpose public pool play pig and see how he does. Do you think do you think he do you think the pedigree just keep because when you're waist high, because typically the the game is played at waist high level. And so you think to yourself, I mean, you lose, I don't know, a third of the power of your legs, and a lot of you know, the shock comes from the legs, half of the yards. Yeah. I mean, how deep was the water? I again so I guess my waist is about I would say we're we were in like four feet. So, you know, you know, I'm okay. I'm more leg than torso for fans who have ever met me. So that's like knee height for you? I mean it's not knee height, you know. I'm not a gargantuan, but you know, it's up to waist. I I would say just supra navel, right above navel, meaning my belly button. Right. You know, right above the belly button. It's a good visual. Yeah.

That's that's what we're thinking about to see pictures at some point. I think would turtle be even able to stand in that level of water? Turtle would be Would he be above ground?

He would be able to breathe. Okay. Barely? Uh well, you know, I I mean it's up to I don't know how it does he breathe through his mouth, ears, and I don't know. Is it a reptile or what what do turtles breathe through? Jerry? Yeah, I'm not sure. Yeah, we'll have to check with Sherry. But yeah, so I was thinking about that as I'm shooting like 11% from the field. Yeah. Rather dismal. You know, Tommy's watching me and it's like, yeah, it's it's not going well. And his buddies with him. So we just started doing alley oops and like dunking, and everyone got worried because it's like right up against the pool, and you know, you're a you're a misguided jump away from a visit to the dentist or a neurosurgeon. But you know, it worked out. That sounds fun. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So that was what I was doing during my break, silently missing shots at a multi-purpose public pool. Yeah. But I it I thought about basketball rims that I played on before. And so I would put that in the top, let's call it the top four. And then I thought to myself, where else does the rim demand excellence? Steel field is always a hard. That's what I because it was the good one. So that was our non for folks listening, you're you're probably wondering, like, that was our non-summer basketball court. It's in Havertown, VA. So you would play there like in the spring and the fall, and then during the summer, I mean, it was all around Ironamic Pool and Drexel Hill. And those pools were pretty like generous, I would say, at Ironamic. I mean like they were they weren't thick, like they were just like nice.

So now you you, Dan, Panda, were a sharpshooter of sorts, and probably still are, you know, if we got you out there. Do you find that your experience, because you were, I would say one of you you're a man who lived within striking distance of Steel Field. Did you find that shooting on a double rim of that caliber helped your shot? Yeah, no, it's a great question. Yeah, I mean, I because I would play at Steel Field a lot in the spring, and I would like kind of you know it's a struggle there because they had the thick rims. And then I like once I started at the pool Memorial Day weekend, I would ride my mongoose motivator there, and I would just like Yeah, like my shooting was definitely better at the pool because the rims were more generous. Yeah, I I thought Yeah, so it was almost like I almost look at Steelfield as yeah, it was almost like a training camp, you could say, and then like the you know, yeah, it like trained you to shoot well at Steel Field. Or sorry, at the pool. Yeah. I always appreciated how Steel Field was like very I I felt like it was insulated. You know, you had the little hill, there was like a little bench area naturally made by the hill. Yeah, but like you were in it, man. Steel field was awesome. Yeah. Sometimes it was just there was no one there, and then other times there'd be like baseball games going on, there'd be people playing roller hockey, and like it would be like it was just a totally like the vibes were so different in different days, and um yeah, it was kind of like a little like because it was almost like you would park and you would walk down into the court. It was like an arena. Yeah, it was it really gave off like an ancient like arena or something. I think it's like it's it's pretty much Cameron Indoor rough arena, Steel Field, you know, when you think about uh high-level basketball. Yeah. I hope I hope the next generation, you know, the what Gen Alpha, I guess it's called Stat Boy right now. Or they would they be the tweeners right now playing basketball. I hope they're doing it. You think they are? No. You don't think they're playing basketball? I don't think it exists outside. You don't think it exists outside? They don't go outside. Just in the meadow world. Oh boy. Yeah, I I hope you're now I hope I'm wrong. You're hearing from an elder millennial right now, and and stat boy's as elder as a millennial gets. And so, you know, there's this commonality once you reach, I don't know, how old Statboy, like 48 or something. When when you reach when you reach some sort of age like that, you start denigrating the generations before. I I won't I want to welcome them into the steel field and hell, you know, they can play with me in a multi-purpose public pool if they want. Yeah. But just get ready, man, because those shots are tough. Yeah. Yeah, with basketball, it's a lot of like muscle memory, I think. Because even sometimes I'll try to shoot like out of nowhere, and there is like like, but then once you start shooting, like by like the 20th shot or so, you're like, all right, I'm back in the rhythm. And so it's yeah, with many sports, it's like that. But yeah, but but I think you would pick it up pretty quick if like you just played more.

Oh, I have a few when he used to play some ball. So I uh Bailey Park. Bailey in our town. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's close to close to here, maybe not. Yeah, yeah. I think the the draw with Bailey for us was not so much the the rim. The rims weren't double, which was good, but it was the lights because you could play later in the stadium period of time.

Yeah, that's near uh where McGurk. We we won't disclose where he lives, but he lives right around McGark. Does he? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. But he right now it was probably in like Sydney. Yeah, I think he's I think he's at that that tattoo film festival in in Fiji right now. And I think he was posting pictures or something. Yeah, well, listen, I mean, with a canvas like his, I mean the tattoo artists go wild. Oh, yeah. You know, but one thing I want to speak of him, I I this was on my list. It was one of the topics. Let's let's you know, I think we've established the room. Now I haven't seen him yet. I haven't really heard from him. A few text messages, but Dr. Green is back in the podcast. Oh, oh, no way. I don't even know if Dr. Green listens to this podcast. It doesn't matter. He's never said a word about it, but but he's back. Where is he back? I think Ardmore. Oh, yeah. He's he's not too far from the tech. I have no idea where.

I think that I mean, welcome back. We are so very excited. We'll we'll get Dr. Green. I I would love to get his take on many things, including Yeah, he has a lot of like unique interests, I feel like. Yeah, I think he loves men's health. You know, he is a huge manly man. Yeah. We need that. When you look at Dr. Green, you say, Man, that's the type of guy who You want on like a men's health podcast. I want him on a men's health podcast. I I we'll have an episode where we talk about it. He writes for the magazine, I heard, right? Yeah, I think so. He has like an editorial or something. Yeah, yeah. He likes like fighter jets. If we ever want to talk about fighter jets, he's he's got like a unique passion for that. Now, this is all on topic, right? I think so. And and Penn State is where Dr. Green kind of cut his teeth and the undergrad, yeah. Yeah, he was pre-medical, men's health. I recall that he was a big was he He roomed with the ice clown. He roomed with the ice clown. Was he big into the uh DP dough? Was that his did he enjoy that? Yeah, yeah. He would have a few beers and then he would head out on a read of DP Dough. Yeah, yeah. And what was what did the DP stand for, Dan? Double something. Yeah, I forget what. Double double package. That's a chain. There was one in like University City. There's one in university elsewhere.

Late nights, it was delicious. Like if you were out drinking, partying, it's great calzones. But then if you go there, like on one time I went there for lunch, like in between classes, it was horrible. You're like, this doesn't taste good at all unless I'm completely intoxicated. Yeah. So it's kind of funny at that. The other thing is you guys had a nice quiznos. And boy, if there's something missing in 2026, it's a quiznos first. Oh, yeah. Were you a quiznos guy? I loved quiznos. We I think we went there like every Friday. That was that turned into like a tradition. And I still remember Stapboy and Hurley came to visit the one time and they brought the energy and yeah, we went straight to Quiznos and it was fun. They just come in there early. All right, let's drop Quiznos. Let's go get a heated sub now. And then Scott, our uh HFM listener, he he loved he loved quiznos. Like, yeah. I still remember this, like so random. I literally just thought of this, but he like I don't go on Facebook much, but when we were in college, Facebook was more relevant. And I think like his whole Facebook profile was just about quiz news. Like I remember like his his interests were like chicken carbonara, and they're like he was like, What do you do on the weekends? Like mesquite chicken. Like it was like he just lived his life, he lived his life one sandwich at a time. So like other Penn State students probably were like, Oh, this guy Scott seems cool. Like, let me look at his Facebook profile, and it was just all about quiz news, you know. Yeah, I mean that's fantastic. I'm so it was awesome. Yeah, yeah, I'll always remember Christmas was great. It was better than Subway, I feel like, you know. And then they kind of like went under or something. When I when I turned the ripe and impressionable age of 21, I I went to We were at Ticket State. Do you remember? We I there was I still tell that story to people. It's a it's a story in which Dr. Green was actually a big part of it. It involved she was 21, like a week a month earlier. Yeah. And I and I and so you were just about to be I actually I think I went late enough where you were 21 as well. And so we went to the cellar. The saloon. Well, they wanted which was in the cellar. Yeah. So I I know it as the cellar, but uh if it was the saloon and they had these things called monkey boys. Yeah. And so it was essentially just a gold literally like the size of a goldfish bowl, and it's just filled with I I God knows what. Bong water, yeah. That was like the popular one. Yeah, because it looked like that, right? Yeah. Yeah. And I just recall But it was like, God knows. Like you would ask for when the bartender would grab like eight different stuff and just pour it up in. How do we not how do we live through that? Yeah, it was a time where But you drank it like so most like the normal person would buy this bong water monkey bully, and they were like, you know, it'd be like, all right, I'm all set for the next two hours. I'm gonna listen to music, like socialize, talk to people. Socialize and talk to people were like the same thing, right? But debatable, you know, some people dance, yeah. So there's different things you could do, but but you drank the monkey bully, like probably you downed a whole one in like 10 minutes or something. Yeah, I just recall a few minutes. I recall when that was completed that you expressed some consternation and concern for me. We were like, wait, what did you just do? And then and then I just remember Dr. Green's next to me, and it's the the song comes on. Do you remember what song? Uh Killing in the Name of Killing in the Name of, which is by Toto? I forget Toto. No, just joking. It Killing in the Name of Christina. I'm pretty sure it's not even called that. It's the um it was that group that were like the well, Velveda was the band, like Penn State people might remember. They're just a local state college band. But uh Rage Against the Machine. Oh yeah, rage. It was Rage Against the Machine, which is a late 90s, early 2000s anarchist rock group. And Dr. Green, I mean, he lives his life through that through that band. I so I'll just I'll always remember that fondly. Yeah. Um, that was a great time. Yeah, so welcome back, Dr. Green. Yeah, we gotta get him on. Yeah, we gotta get him on. Yeah. Do you think if we I feel like if we sprinkle a little McGurk into the, you know, like a lure? It's like yeah, like a nice lure. It's like, hey, we got Bert. Let's bring Ernie over. Speaking of Turtle, so Turtle was very much well, we had him on for an episode about the World Cup. Oh, did that start yet? I don't know. Who won? Who won the World Cup? It's still going on. Oh wow. Oh, wow. And are we still in it? We started with what? 48? How many teams are in the middle? So Kiwis are doing well. What teams did we pick? So we had we we were rooting for USA and the Kiwis. And how they do they're out. Fuck. The Kiwis didn't make it out. Yeah, they didn't make it to the round of 32. They didn't? I don't think so. No, they didn't. USA made it to the round of 16. They uh Turtle told me they were gonna do that. They beat Bosnia and Herzogova and then they in the round of 32. Yeah. And then they made round of 16, which which Turtle on this podcast said that's that's that's more. What do you expected, right? Yeah, like he said anything less than that is bad, anything more than that's good. Like overachieving. So they lost to Belgium. They kind of got their butts kicked. They lost to Belgium? Waffles? Yeah, Belgium. Yeah, Belgium's known for beer, waffles, yeah. And beating the US and software, apparently. Because they actually had beat them in 2014 as well, or same round. Which round was that? That was uh quarters? No, same round, same round of 16. It was like an identical. Four guys on that team from in 2014. There were four of the Belgian players still on this team, too. And zero American like the American team. Wow, that's crazy. So the three world players. Same goalie, same goalie. Yeah, same, like some of the top players were still the same. Belgium was I mean, they're good, yeah. I assume it was a very close game that was well played by the US. No, they got they got beat easily. Yeah. Did you find four to one? And all joking aside, I did watch, you know, the the stars and stripes fall flat on their face. Did you find that the goalie maneuver, did you ever do that in a in your FIFA tenure? Would you send your goalie to midfield and then just kick it right to the other player? I mean, it was a risky maneuver. If you held down the Y button in uh playing PlayStation, I guess, or or whatever. Probably Xbox, whatever the top button of like the diamond thing. So a triangle? So I think it's a triangle and triangle and PlayStation. We're old folks. If you would hold that down, the goalie would just start sprinting out of it like toward the middle of the field. Like he basically sprinted until you stopped holding it. Like he would sprint to the other goalie. Was that something you did? I would do it, but you had to be very careful. Like you can't do what he did. Like he did it, then he whiffed the kick. Like that was horrible. Yeah, that was bad. Now the Spain goalie I watched the Spain France game the two days ago, and that goalie kept holding down the wide the triangle button. And but he was like ma he was like a master of it. Like he would just like he would steal the ball and just kick it off.

And lost in pretty much the most England fashion, right? They always get their hearts broken. Yeah. Right? They were up one-nothing with like 80 minutes left, and then they scored two goals in seven minutes or something, and one of them was an extra time, something along those lines. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Philadelphia hosted the All-Star Game, the MLB All-Star Game. So there. I guess there were like there was a bunch of stuff you could attend, but the most popular was the All-Star Village at the Philadelphia Convention Center. Oh, yeah. There was the Futures game and the Phillies Legends three-on-three game at the on Sunday at the Citizens Bank Park. There was the Home Run Derby on Monday, and then there was the All-Star game on Tuesday. Uh-huh. So I think you guys attended some of that stuff, right? I I batted 500. I did the convention center, and that was awesome. I it was very kid-friendly. We threw all the kids out there, and there were three separate fields where the kids could play like T-ball and like baseball and fast pitch, and and like so Tommy and some of our other friends, a fellow MC S H A N E S family was with us. And so little Tat and and his buddies all played on the different fields, and Tommy smoked one into left field and it got snagged, but there were like eight short stops. So I mean, there was like you know, over a dozen people on the field. So I I frankly told told the convention center that it was a legal defense that uh caused Tommy's out, and I caused a quite the uproar, actually. Yeah. And they escorted me out kind of seriously. Yeah, but it was great. Uh it really cool. Yeah. Um did ice clown was there. He he said it was awesome. Ice clown, arch clown. Like uh there were a ton of clowns there. Yeah, we were there too. Yeah, yeah, we went. We were there too. What did you think?

They have like they have a ton of material, right? Like they're holding like four books and they have cards, and like they're looking to find a way to get, I don't know, Brett Myers to like lick one of the stamps that they have in their book and then put it into their book, you know, that those type of people. Yeah, yeah. And and so I I those those people got a little aggressive towards the end of our our stretch. You know, like someone told me Ken Griffey Jr. was at the Budweiser tent, and boy, I saw a bunch of MLB adults just start scurrying. They just flop there. Yeah, yeah.

So we even had Kit Tat there, and you know, they were in the shade, and we were there, and we call it like the tail end of the futures game, but then afterwards they had this kind of like mini home run derby, and they had four teams of three, and one of three of the teams, it was kind of odd because the fourth team was like the Atlanta Braves team, so it just didn't make any sense, and they just got boomed boomed over and over again. And Andrew Jones was the he was like who I thought of. Yeah, yeah. So I always like I would think of him or Chipper Jones, but so you had that team, but then there was Team Howard, Team Rollins, and Team Victorino. And within each team, you had those three guys, right? They were the captains, and then you had like the the the actual, like honestly, the best performers were these softball and like different college baseball stars. They were all women players that were like juniors, seniors, like like top of the top, and they they were smoking balls, and then you had like the the hook was like the the celebrity was Jordan Mayolata with team Howard, Terrell Owens, wow, teo was back in Philly, yo. People were doing that here. It was a guy, dude. He can dude, he can still play, man. Yeah, because he's he's still looked at he looked at the oldest TO he's pushing 50, right? I would yeah, you'll have to look it up, stat boy. I'd say he is 53. Close? Yeah. Uh uh over. I would say like 51. He's 52. Wow, look at that. We're bracketing at TO's age. You know, it was like fun, like it was just like a fun watch, you know, relaxing. And then right when Schwarber went against Contreras, the catcher for the Red Sox, then it became like head to head, and like you realized, like, all right, Schwarber has to beat this dude. And and Contreras was like a great villain, like he was like totally playing the villain role. He was like instigating the Philadelphia crowd and then and it it turned very tense. Like, you know, like it was like I felt like I was like it was like a Coliseum gladiator match. You know, like it was like really intense. It was awesome. And then so Schwarber beat Contreras and then Yeah, Jordan Walker said like even betting odds, like he was the I think he was like the seventh. There were eight guys in it. He was like the seventh choice going into the derby. Like he wasn't I mean he even like they were saying last season he got called down to the minors. Like he was struggling to like he's not like a very super well-known guy, but he was an all-star this year, so he's having a good year. But but yeah, credit to him. I mean I mean I know a lot of folks were like upset that Schwerber lost as a you know, as a Philly fan, but but I mean I was really like I mean I was I wanted Schwarber to win both emotionally and financially, but I I feel like Schwarber's probably doing fine financially.
